<br />Minutes Lexington Tree Committee <br />Meeting July 12, 2007 <br /> <br />1. Jim Wood was appointed as scribe. <br />2. Attending were Gerry Paul, Sue Solomon, Anne Senning, Nell Walker, John Frey, <br />Jim Wood, Jeanne Krieger, Karen Longeteig <br />3. Tree Warden Agenda Items <br />a) D. Pinsonneault emailed his input to John Frey. <br />b) Inventory-In week 7, current map on 1/8 of town is almost complete. <br />Interns met with forestry crew, which produced an interesting discussion <br />on status of certain trees and what they experience in their work. Interns <br />will leave on August 17, 2007. <br />c) Tree Farm-J. Wood to talk with D. Pinsonneault about obtaining rodent <br />collars for crabs and cherries. 7 of 20 of the scarlet oaks have leafed out. <br />d) Dolburg Scarlet Oak-The donor has noted dead limbs and aphids. We will <br />inform the donor that we will remove the dead limbs and spray next year. <br />e) Construction Impact-Lowell Street Traffic Island-The Garden Club’s <br />Civic improvement Committee was told by the Contractor that they would <br />be notified before any work was done. The Contractor failed to do this and <br />the tree roots were exposed, and several flowers were torn up. Action on <br />our part? <br /> <br />4. Friends of Trees-Garden Club has provided a $1500.00 grant for trees. It is to <br />purchase 6 trees at $250 each. 3 to be planted on Clark Street (1 birch and 2 <br />yellow wood) and 3 others on Meriam Street at the parking lot. <br /> <br />Karen Longetieg will work with the LHS PTA landscaping subcommittee to plant <br />a specimen oak. Karen plans to work through D. Pinsonneault to accomplish this. <br /> <br />5. Eastern bank proposal-J. Frey called Alex Grinis who reported no action on the <br />Banks part yet. <br />6. Commemorative Tree Program, Tree Committee Web Site, and the Tree Talk <br />articles for the newspaper were all postponed until next meeting. The Belfry hill- <br />CPA grant proposal is postponed until the inventory effort is completed for this <br />summer. <br /> <br />Next regular meeting is August 9, 2007, 7:30 AM in Room 111. <br /> <br />Signed-Jim Wood <br />
