<br />Lexington Tree Committee, Lexington, MA <br /> <br />Minutes for Jan. 12, 2006 <br /> <br />Present: John Frey, Chair; Jim Jones; Karen Longeteig; Jeanne Krieger; Gerry Paul; David <br />Pinsonneault; Anne Senning; Nell Walker; Jim Wood <br /> <br />1. The minutes of the 12/8/05 meeting were not available. J. Jones was appointed scribe. <br /> <br />2. D. Pinsonneault report: a) under the Tree By-law from 10/1/01 to date: 422 sites visited; 288 <br />closed; 484 trees approved for removal; 215 removed; 1125 to replant; 486 done; b) Forestry <br />staff: 5 pruned, 8 removed (some perhaps damaged by gas leak). He also distributed copies <br />of the new state DCR grant regulations. <br /> <br />3. K. Longeteig and G. Paul reported on 12/15/05 meeting with Lakis Koulouris of LCTV about <br />videotaping K. Longeteig’s Powerpoint presentation. It was decided to do the videotaping in the <br />studio, with outside shots added later. <br /> <br />4. At the above meeting, there was also discussion about videotaping the lecture series. Two <br />cameras will be borrowed, for the speaker and for the screen, although there is some question <br />about the quality of screen shots. <br /> <br />5. The report on the Planning and Education Grant focused primarily on the mailer, which is in the <br />process of being assembled, with companies having been contacted concerning printing and <br />other aspects. 11,000 copies will be sent to Lexington homes, addressed to “Resident” as the <br />cheaper option. <br /> <br />6. J. Frey and N. Walker will introduce the first speaker of the Lecture Series, Peter Del Tredici. <br />15 minutes will be allotted to questions if the speaker wishes to have them. Other details will be <br />addressed at a meeting between G. Paul and the library staff. A concern about a scheduling <br />conflict between the April lecture and Passover was discussed, with the conclusion that the date <br />could not be changed but a message of regret would be sent. <br /> <br />7. Tree inventory methods will be looked over at a sub-group meeting at DPW on Tuesday, 1/24, <br />at 9:00 am. <br /> <br />8. The Committee report for the Town Annual Report has been completed. <br /> <br />9. “Tree Talk” articles: Jan.: J. Jones; Feb.: J. Frey; March: A. Senning: April: J.
