<br />TreeMINUTES7-14-05 <br />Minutes July 14, 2005 Lexington Tree Committee, Lexington, MA <br /> <br /> <br />Present: John Frey, Chairman; Jim Jones; Karen Longeteig; Anne Senning; <br />Susan Solomon; Nell Walker. Guest: Gerry Paul <br /> <br />1. J. Jones was named as scribe. <br /> <br />2. The minutes of June 9 were accepted. <br /> <br />3. N. Walker will ask Wayne Brook about the watering of the newly <br />planted trees on the bike path in D. Pinsonneault’s absence. Ongoing <br />watering seems to have been effective in keeping the trees healthy. <br /> <br />4. The Planning and Education grant is almost ready for submission. <br />Strong letters of support have been received from Belmont, Waltham, and Arlington. <br />If a lecture series is initiated, it should not conflict with other activities, such <br />as Lexington Reads. <br /> <br />5. Operating instructions for the iPod were distributed by K. Longeteig <br />and A. Senning. Training session will be scheduled. D. Pinsonneault to <br />be asked if the backpack can be stored at the Town Office building. <br /> <br />6. A presentation was made by J. Frey, K. Longeteig and A. Senning on <br />the benefits of trees at the Sidewalk Committee meeting on June 27. G. Paul <br />volunteered to talk to the Planning Board on the issue of Lexington trees. <br /> <br />7. J. Frey and K. Longeteig attended the Center Collaborative charrette <br />on 6/11 and found it useful. <br /> <br />8. The question was raised whether the Tree Committee should take part <br />in the Lexington Farmer’s Market. J. Frey will contact Sonia deMarta. <br /> <br />9. K. Longeteig was appointed Chair for the August meeting in J. Frey’s absence. <br /> <br />10. J. Jones reported on the distribution of Memorial Tree Fund brochures. <br /> The brochures were readily accepted, though the Cemetery Office had <br />Questions, since they have their own tree-planting program. <br /> <br />Next regular meeting is August 11, 2005 in Room 111 at 7:30 AM <br />
