<br />Tree Committee Minutes August 12, 2004 <br /> <br />Meeting location: Town Office Building, Rm. 111 <br />Time: 07:30 AM <br /> <br />Present: John Frey, Chair, Dave Pinsonneault, Anne Senning, Nell Walker, Karen Longeteig, Jim Wood <br />Absent: Jim Jones, Susan Solomon, Jean Krieger <br /> <br />1. Jim Wood in alphabetical rotation, was designated secretary for this session. <br /> <br />th <br />2. We postponed approving the Tree Committee Minutes of June 10, 2004 lacking a corrected copy. <br /> <br />th <br />3. Minutes for July 8, 2004 were read and corrected as follows: <br />st <br />Paragraph 4: 1 line….cost $50/unit, if granted by ESRI… <br />nd <br /> 2 line….costs approximately $500.00/unit <br /> <br />st <br />4. Forestry Division Report: Given by Dave Pinsonneault as of October 1,2001: Tree removal on Spring <br />Street was properly done per Dave Pinsonneault. 193 calls, 259 trees marked for replacement, 567 to be <br />replaced, 132 closed out (either no trees affected or no replanting required). From January 2004: 28 planted <br />(including 11 funded by the Kirk Trust) on Worthen Road, 72 removed, 72 pruned and 3 treated. <br /> <br />5. Tree Inventory Program: <br />5.1 Grant Application to perform a Tree Inventory was not approved. <br />5.2 Anne Senning to contact Sherri Brokopp regarding software support and the memorandum of <br />understanding. <br />5.3 John Frey and Jim Wood to contact Dave Williams re Trust Fund application for the Tree Inventory <br />Program. <br />5.4 General Considerations: IPAC models-keyboard vs. Stylus under consideration, Tree Identification <br />Instruction-Will not hire someone to perform but will use internal Tree Committee resources if <br />required. Tree Inventory Plan, given that the Grant was disapproved. The Tree Committee will seek <br />either Town Funds or Town Trust Funds to proceed at a reduced level. Tree Survey coverage level, <br />Dave Pinsonneault recommended that we survey Fletcher Street to Hancock Street and the Town <br />Center. <br /> <br />6. Memorial Tree Fund: <br />6.1 New Estimate for printing 300 copies of the brochure is $ 269.00 <br />6.2 Karen Longeteig provided a draft of the Memorial Tree Fund Brochure for distribution to the <br />Selectmen and review by the Tree Committee. <br />6.3 Application for the Memorial Tree Fund, drafted by Jim Jones, was distributed to the Tree Committee <br />for review. <br /> <br />7. Brookhaven Planting Review: John Frey reviewed his recommended changes with the Tree Committee and <br />will communicate those recommended changes by letter to the Lexington Board of Appeals. <br /> <br />8. The meeting was adjourned at 09:15 AM <br /> <br />th <br />9. Next regular meeting is September 9, 2004 at 07:30 AM in Room 111 of the Town Office Building. <br /> <br />
