<br />Minutes - Lexington Town Tree Committee <br />Jan. 8, 2004 @ 7:30 AM <br />Town Office Building: Rm. 111 <br /> <br />Attendance: J. Frey, J. Jones, D. Pinsonneault, A. Senning and S. Solomon, N. Walker and J. Wood <br /> <br />1. Minutes of the December 11 meeting were approved as amended. <br /> <br />2. New Member: The Committee recommended that Jim Jones be appointed to the TreeCommittee. <br /> <br />3. Applications for Tree Removal: (DP) 151 requests 72 resolved 208 removed 452 replanted <br /> Discussed how to keep records of trees legally removed in anticipation of later construction – no conclusion reached <br /> N. Walker reported removal of a street tree on Outlook Dr. J. Frey reported removal of several large spruce trees <br />abutting a paper street at rear of 1109(?) Mass Ave. Lincoln St. Plantings handout distributed <br /> <br />4. 'Tree City' Designation: The application was submitted Dec. 3, 2003 by David Pinsonneault. <br /> <br />5. Annual Report: Wording submitted by JF approved by Tree Committee <br /> <br />6. Fee Discussion: (NW) Increase the cost of a Building Permit - each application requires 50 - 60 minutes of <br />D. Pinsonneault's time to visit and evaluate site. Increased fees will be discussed with B. Hadley. (DP) <br /> <br />7. Tree Manual Review: <br /> Connie Rawson (MIS Director) previewed how the Tree Manual will appear on the Town Web site. Committee <br />was very enthusiastic about this accomplishment. <br /> <br />8. Tree Manual Distribution: 1,000 copies received (stored at DPW barn). 100 sent to Building Inspections Dept. <br />for distribution to Contractors. Inspections will log recipients (to avoid duplicate distribution). A $4.00/Manual <br />charge was set. One copy will be sent to DEM with the next Grant application. A copy will be sent to P. Mazarall. <br />A. Senning will prepare a courtesy distribution list. <br /> <br />9. Tree Manual Publicity: Put announcement in a town-wide mailing, <br /> Write a 'Guest' column for the Minuteman, <br /> Put announcement in the LF&GC newsletter. <br /> <br />10. Rindge Park: Tree planting site-plan completed, 3 trees in Arlington, abutting the park <br /> 11 trees; for variety, recommend different tree species <br /> Trees 1, 2 & 3: Sugar & red maple to shade Tot Lot (see subsequent plant list) <br /> Tree 4: Scarlet oak <br /> Trees 5 & 6: Tulip Tree to form gate entrance <br /> Trees 7 & 8: Fruiting trees to attract birds and screen <br /> Tree 9: Red maple <br /> Trees 10 & 11: Red & White oaks <br /> <br />11. Warrant Article: <br /> Amend the by-law to conform with reality. J. Frey will speak with BoS Chair, L.
