<br />Minutes - Lexington Town Tree Committee <br />Dec. 11, 2003 @ 7:30 AM <br />Town Office Building: Rm. 111 <br /> <br />Attendance: J. Frey, K. Longeteig, D. Pinsonneault, A. Senning and S. <br />Solomon, N. Walker, J. Krieger (Selectmen Rep.) <br /> <br />1. Minutes of the November 13 meeting were approved as amended. <br /> <br />2. Group Photograph: <br /> N. Walker took a group photo (outside of Cary Hall) of the Tree <br />Committee for the 2004 Lexington Annual Report. <br /> <br />3. By-law Revision: <br /> J. Frey will reserve space on the 2004 Warrant for a Tree By-law Article Amendment. <br /> <br />4. Annual report: <br /> J. Frey had prepared a draft. The draft was edited to include "Trees Planted on Public Land", as follows: <br /> a.) Lincoln St. Area: 31 + 9 <br /> b.) LHS: 20+ <br /> c.) Arbor Day: 1 white oak (recognize private source funding). <br /> The text was reorganized into three categories: <br /> a.) Tree Manual <br /> b.) Tree Plantings <br /> c.) Community Outreach <br /> The Committee approved the revised submission. <br /> <br />5. Tree Manual: <br /> The need to Copyright was discussed. <br /> a.) Copyrighting the Manual would set a precedent for Lexington <br /> b.) Publication automatically provides a one-year copyright <br /> c.) Copyrighting protect against wholesale commercial copying (unlikely to happen). <br /> It was voted (3 - Yea; 2 - Abstain) not to formally copyright the Manual. <br /> <br />6. Ringe Park Application: Pending <br /> <br />7. Committee Vacancy: <br /> S. Solomon will contact Joanna Grissom. If she is not available, Jim Jones will be contacted. <br /> <br />8. Next Project: <br /> Street Tree Inventory: <br /> Suggested using LHS students on the 1st round - rejected. <br /> Look for a funding grant, use GPS, organize teams <br /> Look for expertise/help on the Town website (??) <br /> <br />9.
