<br />Minutes - Lexington Town Tree Committee <br />August 8, 2002 @ 7:30 AM <br />Town Office Building: Room G-15 <br />Attendance: J. Frey, K. Longeteig, P. Mazerall, D. Pinsonneault (Tree Warden), S. <br /> Solomon and N. Walker. <br />1. The minutes of the July 11 meeting were approved as amended. <br />2. Reappointment of members whose term has expired: <br /> J. Frey and S. Solomon would serve if reappointed. <br /> J. Griscom has resigned Lucy Lockwood and Anne Senning were suggested as potential new <br />members for known available slots. <br />3. Tree Planting Status (D.P.): <br /> Twenty trees remain to be planted at various street addresses. <br /> M. Fotti won tree planting bid. <br /> Planted trees are being watered. One (out of forty) trees was lost. Trees are from approximately <br />ten species. <br /> Sixty building permits --- 100 trees removed --- 200 trees replaced. <br />4. Massachusetts ReLeaf Application: <br /> No awards have been made at this time <br />5. Minuteman articles: <br /> K. Longeteig --- Tree technology --- written and approved <br /> N. Walker --- Historic overview of Emory Park and Depot Sq. --- pending <br /> Future suggestions: <br /> “Lets Talk Trees” <br /> Tree inventory advantages <br /> Success story of burning to remove “woodies” at East St. and Doran <br />Lane about ten years ago. <br /> Champion Trees. <br />6. Tree Inventory: <br /> Committee members to approach Chairs of “Money Committees” to clarify our <br />request and enlist support for an inventory appropriation at the 2003 Town Meeting. <br /> Appropriations (P. Hamburger) --- J. Frey <br /> Capital Expenditures (S. Stoltz) --- S. Solomon <br />7. Tree Manual: <br /> The next meeting is to be devoted to review and editing. <br />8. Memorial Tree Brochure: <br /> On hold. <br />9. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 AM. <br />10.
