<br />Selectmen’s Meeting <br />May 5, 2008 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in <br />the Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Office Building. Chairman Krieger, Mr. Kelley, Mr. <br />Cohen, Mr. Manz and Mr. Burnell; Mr. Valente, Town Manager; and Ms. Pease, Executive <br />Clerk, were present. <br /> <br />Selectmen Concerns and Liaison Reports <br /> <br />Mr. Manz reported that the Garden Club plans to weed Depot Square every Monday during the <br />summer and needs four refuse bags each week. DPW will try to arrange for that. <br /> <br />Mr. Manz noted that the past weekend there were lots of events happening, including Opening <br />Day for Little League and Lexington Muster Day. <br /> <br />Mr. Manz talked with a High School student who is working on a project, which is part of Bikes <br />not Bombs, which collects used bicycles that become primary transportation in other parts of the <br />world. He will be at different areas during Discovery Day where he hopes to collect 100 bikes. <br /> <br />DPW Week – May 18 to 24, 2008 <br /> <br />th <br />Mr. Hadley, DPW Director, invited the Selectmen and residents of Lexington to the 6 Annual <br />DPW Open House on Thursday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park in <br />celebration of National Public Works Week <br /> <br />Youth Awards <br /> <br />Mr. Kelley presented each of the two winners of the Lexington Youth Award (Kate Wilson and <br />Alexandra Earl) with a $500.00 US Savings Bond from the Charles E Ferguson Youth <br />Recognition Award Fund of the Trustees of Public Trusts and thanked them for all they have <br />done for Lexington. <br /> <br />Grants of Location <br /> <br />Mr. Fitzgibbon, Verizon Communications, was available to answer questions on these two <br />requests. <br /> <br /> Verizon New England, Inc. – Waltham Street – Install Conduit <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 5-0 to approve the petition of Verizon New <br />England, Inc. to lay and maintain underground conduits and manholes, with the wires and cables <br />to be placed therein, under the surface of Waltham Street from existing Verizon MH 54/97A, <br />place conduit in a westerly direction, a distance of 55 feet +, to pole number 195/133 on the <br />southerly side of Waltham Street. <br /> <br /> <br />
