Lexington Tree Committee <br />Town of Lexington, Massachusetts <br />201 Bedford Street, Samuel Hadley Public Services Building, Room 125 <br />Minutes, Meeting of July 12, 2012 <br />Attendees: John Frey (Chairman), Gerry Paul, Anne Senning, Jewel Kuljian, and Jim Wood. Chris <br />Filadoro, (Tree Warden), Absent: Karen Longeteig, Nell Walker, and Deb Mauger (Selectman's liaison). <br />Gerry Paul took his turn as scribe. <br />1. Minutes of the April 12, 2012, May10, 2012 and June 14, 2012 meetings were approved as amended. <br />2. Tree Warden's agenda items <br />a) Chris reported on tree bylaw removal and replanting activity. <br />b) The spring 2012 planting was reviewed. 27 of the planned 45 street trees are currently planned to <br />be planted. Gerry and Jim volunteered to plant the trees on Meriam St. in front of the parking lot. For <br />the longer term, Chris will explore with his management a request to return the staffing of the Forestry <br />department to 6 personnel. <br />c) Owners of property at planned street planting sites have objected to having trees planted in front of <br />their houses. Chris and Anne are developing a process to have owners "opt -in" to right -of -way <br />plantings in front of their houses. <br />e) Jim Wood will take the lead (working with Chris) to provide the Conservation Commission with <br />sketch plans and other information they require for approval of a shed, compost bin and other <br />facilities at the nursery. <br />f) Jim obtained a refund on undelivered trees from Sylvan Nurseries. <br />g) Chris reported that 2 new seasonal employees have been hired: Josh Coble and Nicholas <br />Eisenhauer. <br />h) Jewel will begin contacting home owners for the Fall setback planting program. <br />There was no remote participation.
