Lexington Housing Partnership
Meeting Minutes for April 28, 2011

Attendees:

Bob Bicknell, Florence Baturin, Harriet Cohen, Mary Haskell, Chris Kluchman, Wendy Manz,
Winifred McGowan, Bob Pressman, Melinda Walker, Betsey Weiss

Chris Kluchman chaired the meeting; Harriet Cohen took the minutes. The meeting was called to order at
7:45 pm.

1. Busa Property Update
The Lexington Housing Partnership heard two reports with respect to the Busa Property.
The first report described the meeting between Betsey Weiss and Bob Pressman with Hank

Manz re the Busa property. Ms. Weiss and Mr. Pressman expressed their concerns about
the recommendation from the Busa Land Use Proposal Committee (BLUPC) to provide
space for only up to four affordable housing units. Mr. Manz indicated that he also had
some questions about the recommendation and took the concern under advisement. Ms.
Weiss and Mr. Pressman represented themselves in the discussion with Mr. Manz.
Representing the Lexington Housing Partnership, Mr. Bicknell and Mr. Kreutziger met

with Mr. Manz and Deb Maugher. Mr. Kreutziger had prepared extensive materials
showing an alternative layout for the Busa property in which 1.5 acres on the north side of
the property is allocated for affordable. Again, this information was taken under
advisement. The Lexington Housing Partnership recognizes the effort that Mr. Kreutziger
expended and the fine work that he has done in creating the detailed studies behind the
recommendation.
Action
: Mary Haskell and Melinda Walker will work together to write an Op-Ed or letter to the
Lexington Minuteman supporting additional affordable housing units beyond the BLUPC
recommendation. The goal is to publish prior to Memorial Day. They will represent themselves in
writing the Op-Ed or letter.

2. Vine Street Update
The Vine Street Committee has been working diligently towards a recommendation on affordable
housing at Vine Street. The goal is to have 4 to 6 units of affordable housing. The development of
design ideas is in progress. The committee has met several times with the neighbors to hear their
goals for the land usage and to get their feedback on housing designs, and will meet at least one
additional time with the neighbors to get their comments on the latest version of the design.
LexHab will serve as the organizer for the development.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm for a Lexington Housing Foundation meeting. The Lexington Housing
Partnership meeting reconvened at 8:55 pm.

3. Lexington Housing Partnership Goals
The LHP Goals Subcommittee met to draft a set of goals. Florence Barturin captured the goals and
emailed them to the Lexington Housing Partnership. The Partnership discussed alternative
formulations of the goals, additional strategies, and actions/timings for those actions.
