Perlmutter; David S. <br />Geller; John J. Flynn <br /> <br />Health Department Attendees: Gerard F. Cody, Health Director; David Neylon, R.N., <br />Public Health Nurse; Ann Belliveau, Health Clerk/Office Manager <br /> <br />Wendy Heiger-Bernays called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The Board reviewed the minutes of April 13, 2011. Perlmutter motioned to accept the <br />minutes as written. Geller seconded. All approved. <br /> <br />Community Health Updates / Reports <br /> <br />Community Health Report – David Neylon, R.N., reviewed the Communicable Disease <br />Report with the Board and updated the Board concerning a measles case. Neylon also <br />mentioned that he is working on a document for Lexington public and private school <br />nurses regarding when they should contact the Health Division regarding communicable <br />disease issues in schools. This document will include a listing of reportable diseases in <br />Massachusetts, isolation and quarantine requirements, and updates in school <br />immunization requirements for the 2011-2012 school year. <br /> <br />Rich and Amy McMullen, of Skyview Rd., appeared before the Board with their daughter <br />Allie who was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes in July 2009. Amy McMullen <br />advocated for education for child care centers and the public to learn about Type I <br />Diabetes to alleviate fears and concerns. David Neylon, Public Health Nurse, met with <br />the family to discuss possible educational opportunities. <br /> <br />Environmental Health Update/Reports <br /> <br />Environmental Health Report – The Board reviewed the Environmental Health Report <br />prepared by Kathy Fox. <br /> <br />State Sanitary Code Case Review – The Board reviewed the State Sanitary Code Case <br />Review. <br /> <br />a)Raw Foods Inc. - Leah Baigell appeared before the Board to obtain a residential <br />food permit. Cody advised the Board that Sprouted Raw Foods has completed a <br />food plan review with the Health Division. All applicable equipment, (except a <br />mop sink) had been installed according to code. A floor plan and menu have been <br />included. A variance from the requirement to have a mop sink will be reviewed <br />by the Board of Health. After a discussion, Heiger-Bernays motioned to grant an <br />annual permit and a variance from FC-5-203.11 to operate a residential kitchen to <br />Sprouted Raw Foods located at 91 Bow Street. Geller seconded. All approved. <br /> <br /> <br />a)Water Testing Project Update – Cody advised the Board that on April 1 and April <br />2, 2011 a group of MPH students from the Boston University School of Public <br />Health went to all Lexington Public schools with the exception of Diamond <br />Middle School to pinpoint specific locations to test the water. Justin Feldman and <br />Daniella Wodnicki, MPH of the B.U. School of Public Health presented the <br />attached report to the Board. In summary, these tests confirmed the presence of <br /> <br />
