<br /> - presented the following:
<br /> VOTED: That the Maple Street School Building Committee,
<br /> appointed under the authority of the vote adopted under
<br /> Article 11 of the Warrant for,the Special Town Meeting
<br /> held, on October 5, 1953, be and hereby is authorized on
<br /> behalf of the Town to retain architectural services and
<br /> obtain final plans and specifications for the construction,
<br /> original equipping and furnishing of a new elementary
<br /> school to be Ifflown as The Harrington School, and to be
<br /> constructed or the land situated westerly of Lowell Street
<br /> and northwesterly of Maple Street that the Town acouired
<br /> for school and Playground purposes in 1951; to obtain
<br /> bids and to enter into a contract or contracts for such
<br /> construction, original equipping and furnishing, and to
<br /> supervise the carrying on of the work; and that the sum of
<br /> 4733,000.00 be and hereby is appropriated for such con-
<br /> struction, original equipping and furnishing, and that
<br /> Payment be Provided by the transfer of "633,000.00 from
<br /> the Excess and Deficiency Account and by the issue of
<br /> bonds or notes of the Tom for the balance of . 700,000.00;
<br /> and that the Treasurer, with the apProval of the Select-
<br /> men, be and he hereby is authorized to borrow the sum of
<br /> S700,000e00 under authority of Chapter 6L!5 of the Acts of
<br /> 1948, as amended, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town
<br /> therefor, to be payable in accordance with the provisions
<br /> of Chapter 44 of the General Laws, as amended, within a
<br /> period not exceeding twenty years,

<br /> Mr Moderator, I move to amend the motion by striking it
<br /> cut and substituting in Place thereof the following motion:
<br /> That the Maple Street School Building Committee, appointed
<br /> under the authority of the vote adopted under Article 11 of
<br /> the warrant ''cr the Specil Town Aeeting held or October 5,
<br /> 1953, be and hereby is authorized on behalf of the Town to
<br /> T'etan architectural services and 7-bta'n fina7 plans end

<br /> and furnishing of a new elementary school to include
<br /> eighteen classrooms and to be known as Che Harrington
<br /> School, and to be constructed on the lard situated westerly
<br /> of Lowell Street and northwesterly of ale Street that
<br /> the mown acquired for school and playground purposes in
<br /> 1931; to obtain bids and to enter Into a contract or con-
<br /> tracts for such co--str-,),cton, original equipping and furn-
