Carroll asked for nominations for a Moderator Pro-tem <br /> for the meeting. 8:03 P. M. <br /> Nomination made by Ruth Morey for Judge Joseph R. Cotton to <br /> serve, duly seconded. 8:04 P. M. <br /> Judge Joseph R. Cotton unanimously elected. 8:04 P. M. <br /> Motion by Vernon C. Page, duly seconded, nominations be closed. <br /> So voted. 8:05 P. M. <br /> Joseph R. Cotton sworn as Moderator Pro-tem by Town Clerk, James <br /> J. Carroll. 8:07 P. M. <br /> Invocation offered by Rev. Robert H. Bartlett. 8:08 P. M. <br /> Town Clerk read the warrant for the meeting until further <br /> reading waived. Constable's Return read. 8:08 P. M. <br /> Article 1. Appropriation Committee Report presented by J. Harper <br /> Blaisdell, Jr. which was voted to be accepted and placed <br /> on file. 8:08 P. M. <br /> Article 2. Presented by Austin W. Fisher, Jr. <br /> VOTED: That the Standing School Building Committee be <br /> and hereby is authorized on behalf of the Town to retain <br /> (See Referen- architectural services and prepare final plans and <br /> dum, Pg. 250) specifications for the construction, original equipping <br /> and furnishing of new secondary school buildings on land <br /> in the vicinity of the senior high school, additions to <br /> the senior high school building, and any alterations in <br /> the existing senior high school building required by the <br /> construction of such additions and by any connection of <br /> the new buildings to such existing building, said final <br /> plans to be based upon the preliminary plans submitted <br /> to this meeting; and, after approval of the plans and <br /> specifications by the School Committee, to obtain bids <br /> therefor; and to appropriate therefor the sum of <br /> $128,000 and provide for payment by the transfer of <br /> $15,000 from the unexpended appropriation of $15,000 <br /> voted for preliminary plans and specifications for a new <br /> elementary school under Article 45 of the Warrant for the <br /> 1961 Annual Town Meeting and by the transfer of $113,000 <br /> from the Excess and Deficiency Account. <br /> 8:12 P. Harper Blaisdell, Jr. as follows: <br /> I move to amend the motion by striking it out and sub- <br /> stituting in place thereof the following: <br /> That the Standing School Building Committee be and <br /> hereby is authorized to continue the preparation of pre- <br /> liminary plans, specifications and cost estimates for the <br /> construction of new secondary school buildings on land in <br /> the vicinity of the senior high school, additions to the <br /> senior high school building, and any alterations in the <br /> existing senior high school building required by the con- <br /> struction of such additions and by any connection of the <br /> new buildings to such existing building, and to appropriate <br /> therefor the sum of $35,000 and provide for payment by <br /> transfer from the Excess and Deficiency Account, said sum <br /> of $35,000 to be used in conjunction with and in addition <br /> to the $27,000 heretofore appropriated for the expenses of <br /> the Committee for such purposes. <br /> 8:48 P.
