66 -1 <br />Selectmen's Meeting <br />January 11, 2010 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 7:30 <br />p.m. in the Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Office Building. Chairman Cohen, Mrs. Krieger, <br />Mr. Kelley, Mr. Manz and Mr. Burnell; Mr. Valente, Town Manager and Ms. Pease, Executive <br />Clerk, were present. <br />Town Manager Report <br />Lexington was awarded a Clean Energy Grant Award for $43,000 to purchase nine Big Belly <br />solar trash containers, which come with a container for bottles and cans. <br />Chief Middlemiss has been reappointed by Governor Patrick to the Board of Building <br />Regulations and Standards for a four -year term. He is currently completing his first four -year <br />term. <br />Selectmen received a card from the Deputy Mayor of Antony, France wishing them a Happy <br />New Year. <br />Grant of Location — Nstar Electric — Haves Avenue <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the petition of Nstar Electric to <br />construct, and a location for, a line of conduits and manholes with the necessary wires and cables <br />therein to be located under the surface of Hayes Avenue, northerly at pole 44/4 approximately 10 <br />feet east of Somerset Road, a distance of about 43+ feet of conduit. <br />Acceptance of the Edwin B. Worthen Scholarship Fund <br />Mr. Williams, member of the Trustees of Public Trusts, announced that the Trustees of Public <br />Trusts will celebrate its 100 anniversary on February 21. The Edwin B. Worthen Scholarship <br />Fund represents the 120 fund managed by the Trustees. <br />Ms. Marianne McKenna, great niece of Mrs. Anita Worthen, took care of her for over 20 years. <br />Mrs. Worthen was married to Ted Worthen, an architect /local painter; her father in -law, Edwin, <br />was the 1 st tricorn hat recipient. He was a strong historian, researcher and collector; a number of <br />his collected artifacts now belong to the Historical Society. This fund will recognize youth who <br />have shown an interest in Lexington history by performing community service in Lexington for <br />two years. <br />Mr. Cohen thanked the Worthen Family for this scholarship fund and for the fund being set up at <br />the library. He also thanked the Trustees of Public Trusts for the wonderful work they do. <br />
