ANNUAL TOWN MEETING - MARCH 22, 1976 <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. at <br /> 8:03 P. M. in Cary Memorial Hall. <br /> There were 189 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> The invocation was offered by Rev. Harold T. Handley, Pastor Emeritus of the <br /> Church of Our Redeemer. 8 :05 P. M. <br /> Town Clerk, Mary R. McDonough, read the Warrant for the meeting until further <br /> reading was waived. 8:07 P. M. <br /> The Constable's Return of the Warrant was read by the Town Clerk. <br /> 8:07 P. M. <br /> Article 2. Edward E. Furash, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, moved that <br /> the report of the Appropriation Committee be accepted and placed on <br /> file. 8:08 P. M. <br /> Mr. Furash stated that if the committee's recommendations were <br /> followed, a tax rate of somewhat over $75.00 was forecast. <br /> 8:08 P. M. <br /> Motion, as offered by Mr. Furash, declared carried unanimously. <br /> 8:10 P. M. <br /> George S. Silverman, Chairman of the Capital Expenditures Committee, <br /> moved that the report of the Capital Expenditures Committee be <br /> accepted and placed on file. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 8:13 P. M. <br /> Levi G. Burnell, Jr., Chairman of the Cary Lecture Committee, moved <br /> that the report of the Committee on Cary Lectures be accepted and <br /> placed on file and the Committee discharged. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 8:14 P. M. <br /> Howard M. Kassler, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, asked that <br /> the Town Manager be recognized in order to file his article report. <br /> Town Manager, Walter C. O'Connell, presented the Status Report on 1975 <br /> Open Articles. 8.15 P. M. <br /> Mr. Kassler moved that the Status Report:, as presented by the Town <br /> Manager, be accepted and placed on file. <br /> Carried Unanimously. 8:15 P. M. <br /> In response to a question by Joan P. Crothers regarding a report <br /> from the Regional Refuse Committee, Moderator Cole stated, as the <br /> appointing authority, he would contact the committee members in <br /> reference to their report. 8 :15 P. M. <br /> Article 3. Presented by Howard M. Kassler. <br /> MOTION: That a committee of three be appointed by the Moderator to <br /> have the charge of the lectures under the wills of Eliza Cary <br /> Farnham and Suzanna E. Cary for the current year. <br /> Carried Unanimously 8 :16 P. M. <br />
