.c <br /> ANNUAL TOWN MEETING - MARCH 25, 1985 <br /> The meeting was called to order in Cary Memorial Hall at 8 P.M. by Moderator, <br /> Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. <br /> There were 156 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> Invocation was offered by Reverend Gay M. Godfrey, Associate Minister at the <br /> Hancock United Church of Christ. 8:01 P.M. <br /> The Moderator asked for a moment of silence in memory of Manfred P. Friedman, <br /> Town Meeting Member from Precinct 7, who died on January 3, 1985. 8:02 P.M. <br /> Town Clerk, Mary R. McDonough, read the Warrant for the meeting until further <br /> reading was waived by the meeting. 8:03 P.M. <br /> The Town Clerk read the Constable's Return of the Warrant. 8:05 P.M. <br /> Article 2. REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, <br /> OFFICERS, COMMITTEES <br /> lone D. Garing moved that the report of the Committee on Cary Lectures <br /> be accepted and placed on file. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:06 P.M. <br /> The Moderator stated that Article 2 would be open to receive reports <br /> throughout the entire meeting. 8:06 P.M. <br /> Article 3. APPOINTMENT TO CARY LECTURE SERIES <br /> Presented by Paul W. Marshall. <br /> MOTION: That a committee of three be appointed by the Moderator to <br /> have the charge of the lectures under the wills of Eliza Cary Farnham <br /> and Suzanna E. Cary for the current year. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:07 P.M. <br /> Article 4. CHARLES FERGUSON FUND <br /> Presented by Paul W. Marshall. <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept with gratitude the gift of the late <br /> Alice R. Ferguson in the amount of $5,000.00 in memory of Charles <br /> E. Ferguson. <br /> 8:07 P.M. <br /> Mr. Marshall informed the meeting that Mr.. Ferguson had been a long <br /> term public servant for the Town of Lexington having served as <br /> Selectman, Moderator, State Representative and State Senator. <br /> Motion, as presented by Mr. Marshall, declared adopted unanimously. <br /> 8:07 P.M. <br /> Article 2. REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, <br /> OFFICERS, COMMITTEES <br /> Paul W. Marshall, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, reported that <br /> Articles 3 through 9 would be brought up tonight. He understood <br /> that there would be a motion to take up Article 17 out of order and <br /> to discuss Articles 7 and 17 together but to vote on each of them <br /> separately. He also said that the plan was to bring up the zoning <br /> articles on Wednesday, March 27th, with the exception of Article 11 <br /> which would be brought up on Monday, April 1. <br /> 8:09 P.M. <br />
