• 21‘_ <br /> 1996 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> APRIL 8, 1996 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Moderator Margery M. <br /> Battin, at 8 p.m. , in Cary Memorial Hall. <br /> A quorum was present. <br /> The invocation was given by Reverend Flanders of the <br /> Church of Our Redeemer. <br /> The Moderator lauded the contributions of longtime Town <br /> Meeting Members who had chosen not to run this term: Erna <br /> Greene, Sam Nablo, Jack Sarmanian, Jackie Ward, and Ruth <br /> Souza, and honored the passing of Town Clerk's Office <br /> staff member Elinor Cahill. <br /> 8:10 p.m. Town Clerk Bernice Fallick read the Town <br /> Warrant until waived and the Constable's Return. <br /> The Moderator outlined procedures and conduct of the <br /> Meeting. <br /> ARTICLE 2 REPORTS OF COMMITTEES <br /> 8:19 p.m. Selectman Fenn reported that HATS is working <br /> with Massport on the update of the GEIR and that Massport <br /> had agreed to an extension on the comment period. <br /> 8:21 p.m. Selectman McSweeney stated that the budget was <br /> still a work in progress and attempts were being made to <br /> reduce amounts in order to balance the budget. <br /> 8:24 p.m. Selectman McSweeney moved that the report of <br /> the Cary Lectures Committee be accepted and placed on <br /> file and the Committee be discharged. <br /> Dana Regillo of the Committee presented the report. <br /> Following a unanimous voice vote at 8:27 p.m. , the <br /> Moderator declared the report to have been accepted and <br /> placed on file and the Committee discharged. <br /> 8:28 p.m. Joyce Miller, Conservation Commission, asked <br /> members to complete the Open Space and Recreation Plan <br /> Survey. <br /> 8:28 p.m. Jeffrey Young, Superintendent of Schools, <br /> presented his report indicating ten forces which serve as <br /> a focus and context for thinking about School Funding. <br /> ARTICLE 3 APPOINTMENTS TO CARY LECTURE SERIES <br /> MOTION: That a committee of three be appointed by the <br /> Moderator to have the charge of the lectures <br /> under the wills of Eliza Cary Farnham and <br /> Suzanna E. Cary for the current year. <br /> 8:40 p.m. Presented by Selectman McSweeney. <br /> Following a voice vote at 8:40 p.m. , the Moderator <br /> declared unanimous adoption of the motion. <br />
