<br />Minutes for Lexington Council for the Arts meeting May 11, 2009 <br /> <br /> <br />Cary Memorial Library <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Present: <br /> Barbara Ciampa, Co-Chair; Jan Goplerud; Zoe Perry-Wood, Co-Chair; Janet <br />Post, Secretary; Jonathan Cue; Bill Janovitz, acting as secretary for Louise Cady- <br /> <br />Fernandes (absent); Victoria Campos; Mary Trometer; Treasurer; <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> Sirarpi Heghinian Walzser; Jackie Hawkinson; Louise Cady-Fernandes <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Barbara Ciampa called the meeting to order at 7:22 PM; Zoe Perry-Wood arrived and <br /> <br />chaired the meeting at 7:23. <br /> <br /> <br />Debriefing on Lexington Open Studios event <br /> <br />Discussion of pros and cons as to whether the event would be more inviting to the public <br />if it would be more centralized. Zoe and Barbara attended the Friday night reception and <br />gave glowing reviews. As for Saturday, Zoe thought attendance was sparse due to <br />distance from center of town (of her own studio). The locales in or near the center (the <br />old Sundial Bookstore and Munroe Center) were very popular and well attended. We <br /> <br />proposed sponsoring a shuttle bus to take viewers to the various studios. <br /> <br /> <br />It was proposed that we should invite Christian back for discussion and feedback on new <br /> <br />idea. <br /> <br /> We also discussed sponsoring the event. <br /> <br /> <br />Secretary's Report <br /> <br /> <br /> The minutes for the April ‘09 meeting were accepted. <br /> <br /> <br />Treasurer's Report <br /> <br /> The treasurer’s report was accepted. There is a balance of $9,627.81. $5000 of this will <br /> <br /> go to the library donor wall this summer. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />General Business <br />: <br />? <br /> Victoria asked about possible fundraising for the Patron’s Fund. Zoe gave a summary of <br /> <br /> <br />past LCA discussions about this issue. <br /> <br /> <br />? <br />Related to the above, the discussions resumed about the Town Hall art inventory, <br /> <br /> <br />ownership, and the future of. Barbara proposed getting another update from Candy. <br />? <br /> Zoe reported on the auction at the Cary Memorial Library fundraiser. Discussions about <br /> <br />us sponsoring a possible art auction as the foundation of a fundraising event for the <br /> <br />Patron’s Fund, with the Town Hall art as the starting inventory. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />? <br />Barbara has volunteered to find out how much was raised at library. <br /> <br /> <br />
