SHURTLEFF, <br /> a w <br /> Superintendent. <br /> CIpA M. .II BfP <br /> sus <br /> State House, Boston, June 15, 1891 . <br /> Overseers of the Poor of <br /> Mass <br /> Gentlemen: <br /> We desire to call your attention to a recent act of the <br /> legislature, a copy of which is enclosed. <br /> In view of its provisions , it seems to be advisable that <br /> representations to the overseers of the poor , in doubtful cases , <br /> shall be in writing and signed by the person making such represen- <br /> tations . <br /> This remark is especially applicable to cases concerning <br /> alleged foundlings and deserted infants ; and no such child should <br /> be received by the overseers for commitment to the State Board <br /> except upon such a signed statement . <br /> Respectfully yours , <br /> Supt . Out-Door Poor . <br /> One enclosure . <br />
