<br />Selectmen’s Meeting <br />March 3, 2019 <br /> <br />An emergency meeting of the Lexington Board of Selectmen was called to order at 6:03 p.m. on <br />Sunday, March 3, 2019 in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Ms. <br />Barry, Chair; Mr. Pato; Mr. Lucente were present as well as Mr. Malloy, Town Manager; Ms. <br />Axtell, Assistant Town Manager; and Ms.Katzenback, Executive Clerk. Ms. Hai participated <br />remotely via phone. <br />Also present were Chief Corr, Police; Mr. Dugan, Public Information Officer; Mr. Makarious, <br />Town Counsel; Ms. Rice, Town Clerk. <br />Also participating remotely were Ms. Battite, Director of Recreation; Mr. Cronin, Director of <br />Facilities; Acting Chief Sencabaugh, Fire: Mr. Pinsonneault; DPW Director. <br />Logistics and Potential Rescheduling, Postponement, or Delayed Opening of March 4, 2019 <br />Annual Town Election <br />Ms. Barry announced Ms. Hai is participating remotely via phone conference. Further, Ms. <br />Barry stated that a quorum of Selectmen are present at the meeting confirming remote <br />participation is according to policy. Ms. Barry explained this emergency meeting was called to <br />discuss the impending snow storm in regards to the scheduled Monday, March 4, 2019 Town <br />Election. <br />Mr. Pinsonneault said that snowfall is forecasted to end between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on <br />Monday, March 4, 2019 with an accumulation of approximately ten inches or more of heavy wet <br />snow. He explained the DPW crew will stay on top of the street snow removal throughout the <br />storm noting that sidewalks and parking lots would also be tended to as soon it could be possible. <br />Ms. Rice said the poll workers indicated they are ready and willing to open and work the polls as <br />scheduled understanding the inclement weather predictions. <br />Chief Corr reported that Police staff are ready to report as scheduled for the election. <br />Mr. Cronin confirmed that the custodians would report as scheduled to clear the snow as required <br />at the Municipal and School Buildings polling locations. <br />Mr. Malloy explained that while a decision has not been finalized, due to the storm, it is highly <br />likely that the schools will be closed on Monday, March 4, 2019. <br />Mr. Makarious explained the procedure of obtaining a required court order should the Board <br />decide to delay the election either to a same day late start or a new date. <br />After discussion of legal requirements, pros/cons, safety, logistics and public communication <br />regarding the snow storm and the Town Election, the Board agreed the Monday, March 4, 2019 <br />Town Election should proceed as scheduled. <br /> <br />
