MIT/Bright Horizons Child Care Center, 5 Forbes Road, Lexington The center has the capacity for 110 children. They are requesting to lower the sinks from ADA recommended 25" down to 15" to avoid having children standing on step stools at the sink as a safety consideration. We are recommending that at least one of the sinks stay at 25" to accommodate wheelchairs. Construction is starting the beginning of September pending a permit. The decision does not have to be made immediately by the Commission, but they have to submit to the Architectural Access Board. Depot Sound System Historical Society has assistive hearing devices and makes them available at different functions, but the system is apparently quite complex to use so they are not currently utilized as much as they could be. We will be inviting Susan Bennett, Director of the Historical Society, to talk to us about ways that the system might become more user- friendly and more accessible to visitors at this venue. Cary Hall — Handicap Parking Designation Mills secured a variance to avoid painting colored stripes or patterned herringbone to signal a parking space. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) — The Central Middlesex Affiliate will be showing a new documentary film in November at the Lexington Venue, free of charge. "Pack Up Your Sorrows" tells the story of singer/songwriter Meg Hutchinson who lives with bipolar disorder. Francine would like the Commission to be listed as a supporter of the event. Center Streetscape — Massachusetts Avenue and Woburn Street Meetings/Conversations are being pushed to January, while the consultants are developing a new presentation. This issue will come up in the spring Town Meeting. Next Meeting: Our next meeting is scheduled for September 3rd at 5:45 in the Parker Room, G — 15, ground floor of the Town Office Building.
