t <br /> %, I <br /> Lexington Housing Partnership Board <br /> Meeting Minutes for November 13, 2018 <br /> Attendees: Harriet Cohen (by phone),Jeri Foutter, Paul Linton, Rich McDonough, Bob Pressman, <br /> Melanie Thompson, Melinda Walker, Betsey Weiss <br /> Absent: Nancy Corcoran-Ronchetti, Mary Haskell,Wendy Manz <br /> The Lexington Housing Partnership Board (HPB) meeting was chaired by Ms. Foutter and minutes were <br /> taken by Ms. Cohen.The meeting was called to order at 6:03 pm. <br /> 1. Article 10: 55 &56 Watertown Street National Development—Waterstone& Bridges <br /> (Belmont Country Club) <br /> The HPB members quickly came to consensus in support of Special Town Meeting (November 2018) <br /> Article 10.The primary factor in HPB's support is the affordable units,with special note of National <br /> Development's increase in affordable units from 18 to 21 units based on feedback from Town <br /> Meeting members. HPB also noted the excellent reputation of National Development (including its <br /> support of Habitat for Humanity) and for its responsiveness to concerns of the Planning Board, <br /> abutters, and Town Meeting members. <br /> HPB agreed that, as the chair of the HPB, Ms. Foutter would represent the HPB at this evening's <br /> Special Town Meeting. <br /> Ms. Walker moved that the HPB approve a statement from Ms. Foutter to Town Meeting in support <br /> of Article 10. Mr. Linton seconded the motion.The motion was approved unanimously in an <br /> individual voice vote.The draft statement discussed at the meeting is as follows: <br /> 1. National Development has proposed 21 affordable units, an increase from 18, and above <br /> the 10%minimum. <br /> 2. Monthly fee model may be a more affordable option (for some seniors)versus the buy-in <br /> model, which requires a significant upfront investment. <br /> 3. National Development has been recognized for its high quality development projects and <br /> corporate philanthropic values. <br /> ■ The United Way of Massachusetts recognized National Development with their Real <br /> Estate and Building Industry Leadership Award, as an extraordinary industry leader who <br /> has greatly contributed to the community, both professionally and philanthropically. <br /> ■ The Managing Director of Charles River Realty/National Development was the 2018 <br /> Honoree at the Habitat for Humanity Gala for his time& expertise and his tireless <br /> advocacy on behalf of local families and Veterans who need affordable housing. <br /> The Housing Partnership Board voted unanimously in favor of Article 10 (55 & 56 Watertown Street) <br /> as proposed by National Development. <br /> 2. Meeting Adjournment <br /> Ms. Walker moved that the meeting be adjourned. Ms.Thompson seconded the motion.The <br /> motion was approved unanimously.The meeting adjourned at 6:57 pm <br />
