Members <br />present were: Dr. Donald Goldmann, Dr. Stanley Finkelstein, Jacquelyn <br />Selway, Sanitarian, and Mr. George Smith, Jr., Director of Public Health. <br />Mr. Smith opened the meeting by acknowledging the sudden passing of the <br />Board Chairman, Dr. Howard Asarkof. Mr. Smith and the Board members <br />indicated he would be missed. <br />Mr. Barbara Manford, Senior Architect for Tippetts . Abbett . McCarthy . <br />Stratton, Engineers, Architects and Planners in Boston, appeared to <br />request the Board of Health support in requesting a variance of the <br />State Plumbing Code for work renovation being undertaken at Estabrook <br />School. <br />The request is for a variance from Section 2.10 Table 2: Plumbing Fixtures <br />Required for Schools. <br />The TAMS request is for a minor reduction in the existing number of toilet <br />fixtures. The reduction will result from the conversion of two toilet <br />rooms for handicapped accessibility. The school was originally built to <br />accommodate 600 students; current enrollment is projected to be 400-430. <br />Mr. Smith indicated that the Plumbing Inspector did not have any objections <br />to this proposal. <br />After a review, the Board agreed to forward this request to the Board of <br />State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters. <br />Mrs. Jane Tapis appeared at 8:00 p.m. relative to VNCH contract for the <br />coming year.
