1 <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />OCTOBER 17, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday, October 17, 1983 <br />at 7:30 p.m. in Room G-1 (Recreation Office) of the Town Office Building. <br />Members present were: Mr. James W. Lambie, Chairman; Dr. Michael S. Erdos, <br />Linda Roemer, Ph.D., George A. Smith, Jr., Health Director and Deborah Halko, <br />Sanitarian/Intern. <br />SANITARIAN Mrs. Deborah Halko, Sanitarian/Intern reported to the Board that she and Mr. <br />REPORT Smith had inspected a few hourses for asbestos. They did find asbestos in <br />most instances and Mr. Smith advised the residents what they should do. <br />Mr. Smith and Debbie went to Hanscom Air Force Base to discuss mosquito control. <br />The Air Base was interested in what Lexington was doing and they plan to do co- <br />operative work with Lexington on mosquito control. <br />Debbie told the Board she is checking out the restaurants for the "No Smoking" <br />sections. Most restaurants have complied. There are a couple that do not have <br />designated areas, as yet. <br />Debbie has completed testing the outdoor swimming pools for the summer season. <br />Mr. Smith is going to start Debbie now in inspecting hotels. <br />MOSQUITO Mr. Smith asked the Board if the draft of the mosquito control report was o.k.? <br />CONTROL The Board agreed it was all right to type and send to the Town Manager and the <br />Board of Selectmen. This concludes mosquito control for this year. <br />Mr. Lambie asked if we have data on a monthly basis and what we sprayed. <br />Mr. Smith said, "Yes", we did have some data on a monthly basis and he will get <br />it all together. Mr. Smith said the E.M.M.C.P. will get back $8,000.00 from <br />the State and $500.00 will be applied to the Lexington account. <br />Mr. Lambie asked if we should do anything different next year. <br />ANNUAL FLU Mr. Smith Said"No, but he would spray in the Spring" He said the first case <br />VACCINE of EEE could come as early as July. <br />CLINIC <br />Mr. Smith said he'd like the mosquito spraying trucks to be better marked next <br />year and would like flashing lights on them so that people would be able to <br />identify them when they are on the streets. <br />Mr. Smith reported that we did around 688 people at the flu clinic including <br />a few at the Greeley Blood Pressure Clinic. We had ordered separate vaccine <br />for the nursing homes. <br />WINNING Mr. Smith told the Board that a Mrs. Pesce had been into the office about <br />FARM dumping on the Winning Farm Land. Mr. Smith does not see any threat there at <br />this time. Mrs. Pesce wants to sell the land to Conservation and wants to make <br />sure she can get a fair price. <br />1 <br />The Board of Selectmen are going to discuss this at their meeting and Mr. Lambie <br />said that he would attend this meeting to listen to the discussion. <br />i <br />X395 <br />
