BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />JANUARY 10, 1983 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held January 10, 1983. <br />Members present were: Mr. James W. Lambie, Chairman; Dr. Michael S. Erdos, <br />Dr. Linda Roemer and Mr. George A. Smith, Director of Public Health. <br />The minutes of the December 13, 1982 meeting were approved as read. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that Dr. Stanley Read, D.V.M. of Dr. Chabot's <br />Veterinary Hospital has requested to do the rabies clinic in May for the <br />1',oarc. of Health. Mr. Smith told the Board that Dr. Read had worked at <br />our clinic in past years and everything went well. <br />The Board agreed that Dr. Read could do the upcoming rabies clinic. <br />HAZARDOUS Mr. Smith told the Board that the League of Women Voters are talking and <br />WASTE DAY discussing the "hazardous waste" collection day and they feel this should <br />or could be an annual event. The Selectmen feel this is a worthwhile pro- <br />ject and are discussing ways to fund this event annually. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that there had been another sewer overflow at <br />the Sheraton -Lexington Motor Inn. The alarm had gone off and someone <br />SEWER there shut it off but had forgotten to report it. <br />OVERFLOW <br />It has all been taken care of at this time. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that he has hired a new weekend (assistant) dog <br />office, named Betsy White. <br />DOG <br />PROGRAM He also told the Board that he has turned the dog program over to Patti <br />Martin -Paul, Animal Control Officer and that she is "more -or -less" on her <br />own now. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that the Selectmen turned down his request to <br />put signs up (re: fasten children's seat belts) on Town property. He said <br />the School Department will allow them to be put up on school property. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that the Bora Bora Restaurant has gone out of <br />business and that there is a new restaurant going in at that address. The <br />restaurant will be named Arty's and will be a Greek food restaurant. <br />Dr. Erdos asked about the letter that Mr. Smith was to write in regard <br />to "non-smoking" areas in restaurants. <br />Mr. Smith said it is just about completed. <br />The Board met with Mr. David Henley, of the East Middlesex Mosquito Control, <br />to briefly discuss mosquito control as they had an 8:30 p.m. appointment <br />before the Board of Selectmen. <br />The Board of Health was going to request a $4,000.00 emergency fund to do <br />some larviciding to help control the mosquito population and they want to <br />start this program as soon as possible. <br />1 <br />
