340 <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />JUNE 21, 1982 <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday, June 21, <br />1982 at 7:15 p.m. in Room G-15 of the Town Office Building. Members present <br />were: Mr. James W. Lambie, Chairman; Dr. Michael S. Erdos, Dr. Linda Roemer <br />and Mr. George A. Smith, Director of Public Health. <br />Minutes of the May 10, 1982 Meeting were approved as read. <br />The Visiting Nurse, Virginia Brady, R.N. came in to report to the Board of <br />Health that they have drawn up a new contract with the Town (Board of Health) <br />and they have increased their charge from $14.00 to $16.00 per visit per hour <br />due to an increase of salaries. The average nurses salary with the V.N.A. now <br />is between $13,000 - $14,000 per year. <br />1 <br />V.N.A. <br />CONTRACT <br />After a brief discussion relating to the nursing work under the Board of Health, <br />Virginia Brady thanked the Board and retired. <br />At 7:30 p.m. Doris Nash of Lifeline came into Board Meeting to show a short <br />film and give an explanation of the Lifeline Program. <br />It is a program run for the elderly living alone that they can join for a <br />$20.00 installation fee and a $15.00 per month charge. <br />It is basically run to have the elderly be able to get some help if they are <br />in trouble, health -wise. They give names of relatives, friends or the build- <br />ing maintenance men to the Lifeline Program and in case of an emergency the <br />bell rings into the main switchboard at the Lifeline Office. They, in turn, <br />notify someone on the list to check the person whose line rang. <br />It is not an "all perfect" system but it can save lives. <br />The Board wanted to know what their role in this is. <br />Doris Nash replied that she just wanted them to be knowledgeable in case they <br />were confronted with any inquiries they would be able to answer questions. <br />Doris Nash thanked the Board for letting her show them the film and explaining <br />the program to them. <br />1 <br />LIFELINE <br />Mr. Smith reported that the new Sanitarian, Debora Chiklis, had been out check- SANITAR- <br />ing the stores in Town for the "recalled" tunafish and found 55 tins of them on IAN'S <br />the store shelves with the code that is to be recalled. REPORT <br />Debora has also been busy inspecting restaurants, inplant cafeterias and in- <br />specting swimming pools and taking water samples. <br />Patricia Martin -Paul, current Animal Control Officer, is inspecting the animal ANIMAL <br />permit holder's barns at this time and has found some to be in tough shape. CONTROL <br />REPORT <br />Letters have gone out to the Rollins, Keshians, and Kazarians because of con- <br />ditions of their barns, etc. <br />Patricia has Frank Martin of the S.P.C.A. coming out to look at a couple of <br />the stables for her. <br />1 <br />
