552
TEL -MED
BREWSTER'S
BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
APRIL 7, 1975
The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday, April 7,
1975. at 7:00 p.m. in Conference Room G-15 of the Town Office Building.
Members present. were: Dr. William L. Cosgrove, Chairman; James W. Lambie,
Dr. Charles Ellicott and Director of Public Health, George A. Smith.
Minutes of the March 17, 1975 meeting were approved as typed.
Mr. Smith explained that he had more information on the service entitled
Tel -Med being offered by the City of Boston, Department of Health and Hospital.
He went on to explain that the City of Boston had invested seventy to eighty
thousand dollars in this service and were now asking the Towns for donations
to help support it. They are now asking for a donation of one hundred dollars
at this time. He said he did not know that Lexington people would get that
much aid from this service.
It was also pointed put that at the present time our budget was depleted
and although we had received funds from E & D we were operating pretty close.
Mr. Lambie said he felt that funds for this service should be placed near
the bottom of the priority list.
Mr. Smith reported that Brewster's, Inc., 913 Waltham Street, Lexington,
Massachusetts had been closed due to unsanitary conditions. The license
for this establishment had expired and the owners had left town.
A letter has been received from the Board of Selectmen stating that
they had revoled the Common Victulars License for this establishment.
The Board unanimously approved the action taken by Mr. Smith regarding
Brewster's. Inc.
Mr. Smith reported he had taken out a court complaint against Mr. Suave,
33 SYLVIA ST. owner of the house at 33 Sylvia Street, because he had not installed a second
exit for the second floor apartment at this address.
Mr. Suave has been notified about this condition a number of times but
has not complied with the orders sent to him. This case will come up in
Concord Court after the 19th of April.
The Board approved this action taken by Mr. Smith.
Dr Ellicott and the Board congratulated Mr. Smith in the way he was
handling and inspecting restaurants and markets in Town. Dr. Ellicott said
it was wonderful where these things had never been done properly before.
L.V.N.A. Dr. Cosgrove asked if Dr. Ellicott or Mr. Lambie had talked of any
special programs for the L. V. N. A. when they discussed the Budget.
Dr. Ellicott said "No" they just figured on 4 clinics 3 hours each per
month.
Dr, Cosgrove said the reason he asked was because he thought a clinic
in. East Lexington might be to an advantage.
1
1
1
