The Board set the meeting for June 12,1959. The Engineering Report of Mr. Kraynick for the period April 17 to May 1,, 1959, was noted. The meeting adjourned at 5.30 P.M. BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING June 5, 1959 A meeting of the Board of Health was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Offices, on Friday, June 5, 1959, at 3 P.M., with Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, Mr. Cole, and Mr. Lurvey present. The case of Daniel A. Whitney was discussed. This WHITNEY dwelling has been connected to the town sewer. A Polio Vaccine clinic was discussed by the Board, and it was decided that a newspaper release stating that all POLIO people between the ages of 6 months and 40 years of age VACCINE would be charged $1.50 per shot if the demand was great enough. The people will be told to call the Health Depart- meat if they want this clinic. 1-4 1 1 The problem of the overflowing cesspool at 34 Maple MC CARTHY Street was discussed. The owner, Eugene P. McCarthy, has had the cesspool pumped. Alfred G. Lepar, who owns the house at 20 Hudson Road, LEPARE been in contact with Mr. Lurvey regarding overflowing sewage facilities at this address. This is being corrected. An application to keep horses (3) at 197 Woburn Street FRISSORE' by Ralph Frissore in the name of Schyler A. Snow was discus- sed. It was decided to disapprove this application due to the objections received by the Board from residents in this area. It was voted to approve a permit to keep 1500 poultry SANDER at C. Sanderson's farm at 5 Meadowbrook Avenue. SON It was voted to approve a permit to keep 50 poultry FOGG at 239 Woburn Street owned by Lester Fogg. It was voted to approve a permit to keep one horse at MEDAS 192 Spring Street. Property owned by Joseph Medea. It was voted to approve a permit to keep 3 cows on the FULK property owned by Robert J. Fulk, 16 Burlington Street. The case of Roy A. Crosby,•who was admitted on June CROSBY to the Middlesex Sanitorium, was discussed. 1 377 -2- It was voted to approve a permit to keep one Swine at IODICE 65 Winter Street. Property owned by Alfred Iodice. Mrs. Warner of 71 Adams Street came in to discuss the WARNER keeping of one horse on her property at 71 Adams Street. It was explained to the Board by Mr. Lurvey that all residents who would be affected had been contacted but one. The Board voted to approve this pending no objection from the Dohertys. The Dohertys live directly across from the Warners at 74 Adams Street. A letter sent to John J. Carroll from Mr. Lurvey was SEWER approved regarding priority by the Board of Health listing public sewer projects to be starting soon. A letter sent by Mr. Lurvey to the Division of Comm- SANNELLA unicable Diseases concerning a family by the name of San- nela who came down with Salmonella was discussed and app- roved. The following court hearings heard in Concord District Court on May 26, 1959 were discussed by the Board. Arthur E. Blunt, 9 Barryweade Drive, was given until June 16 to comply with an order sent by the Board of Health to abate the nuisance of overflowing sewage. HEARINGS Blunt Carroll Brothers, 31 Allen Street. The piggery operated by the Carroll Brothers must comply with an order Carroll sent by the Health Department by June 16. Helen M. Kerr was originally. scheduled to be heard Kerr also at a hearing in Concord District Court on May 26, but she called the day before, and upon checking with Mr. Herman Theising of the A.A. Cesspool Com- pany, I found that the condition of overflowing sewage was going to be taken care of within 30 days. This is a problem that arises each spring where a lot of water collects on the corner of this property. It has all dried up since this trouble began. No problem at the present time. Mr. Lurvey discussed the problem of a faulty sewage in- LESLIE stallation at Fl Lake Street owned by Robert M. Leslie. This too, has dried up due to the warm weather, but will undoubtly be a problem again next spring. Mr. Leslie has filled in some around the system. There is no nuisance at the present time. The Board voted to extend the time limit on the order sent to Mr. Leslie until March 1, 1960. The Board would like Mr. Lurvey to write to Mr. Leslie and recommend that the sys- tem be reversed and placed in the frontside of the dwelling above any ground water condition. This would also be handy for future connection to the public sewer. Mr. Edward L. York came in to discuss the keeping of 2 YORK horses at 24 Hancock Street. The Board will wait until this is investigated by the Health Officer.
