BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
April 18, 1958
The April meeting of the Board of Health was held in the
new office on Friday, April 18, 1958, at 3 P.M., with Chairman
McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, Mr. Cole, and Mr. Lurvey present.
Mr. James Phillips, who was scheduled to appear before the
Board at 3.30 P.M., talked with Chairman McQuillan on April 17,
and said he would not be present. Just before the meeting
Mr. McQuillan visited Mrs. Phillips at her restaurant. Mrs.
Phillips claimed that the new sink would be installed, new
linoleum laid, and the ceiling and walls washed, within a week.
The Board discussed the problem lots on Lowell Street which
Mr. Fulton is interested in. These lots have been rejected by
both Mr. Lurvey and Mr. Kraynick, the engineer from Whitman &
Howard. The Board insists that Mr. Fulton have a registered
engineer present a workable plan for our Board and Engineer to
approve.
Mr. Lurvey reported that he had looked at some lots on
Lincoln Street, Weston Road, and Route 128, belonging to James
Corr, in connection with a letter from Mr. Donald Nickerson,
Chairman of the Board of Appeals. This is a question of sub-
dividing the lots. Mr. Lurvey rejected two lots.
Dr. Charles Mooney has registered a complaint of the boys'
shower room at the Senior High School. Mr. Lurvey investigated
and recommended to the School Nurse and Mr. Abel at the High
School that the shower and locker room floors in both girls and
boys rooms be cleaned daily and foot baths be dispensed with.
The Board asked that the principal, Mr. Warren, and the school
doctors and nurse be notified by letter.
A certified letter was sent to Mr. Paul Little, Old Billerica
Road, Bedford, notifying him that a license must be obtained from
the Health Department to transport garbage in Lexington.
Mr. William Brenchick appeared before the Board in connection
with his request for help with the hospital bill for his prema-
ture baby born on February 13, 1958. Mr. Brenchick reported
that the Blue Cross had taken care of the bulk of the bill, and
that he would not need aid.
The investigating committee of the Minute Man Highlands Cam-
munity Association has requested a meeting with the Board and
Mr. Potter of Potters Piggery. The Board will arrange a meeting
for Thursday, May 1, 7 P.M., in the Selectmen's Room, and will
notify the committee and Mr. Potter.
Mr. Lurvey requested an order be sent to Harold Allen, 257
Marrett Road, to correct the nuisance of an overflowing sewage
system.
