283 <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />November 16, 1956 <br />A regular monthly meeting of the Board of Health was held <br />on Friday, November 16, 1956, at 3 P.M. in the Selectmen's <br />Room, Town Offices. Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, and <br />Executive Health Officer Lurvey were present. <br />Letters have been coming in slowly from the Lexington Hospital': <br />doctors re their opinion on the need for a community hospital <br />in Lexington. Mr. McQuillan suggested a duplicate question- <br />naire letter be sent to the doctors who have not as yet answered <br />stating that a meeting is to be held with the Selectmen and <br />Planning Board on December 3, and we would like to have their <br />opinions and suggestions for that meeting. <br />The appropriations for 1957 were discussed, approved, and <br />signed to be submitted to the Board of Selectmen for the meet- Appro- <br />ing on Monday, November 19. Dr. Benton's were approved with priatiapl <br />the rest for Animal Inspector and the Dog Clinic. Mr. McQuillan <br />is sending a letter to the Board of Selectmen and to the Appro- <br />priations Committee askingfor raises in salary for Mr. Lurvey <br />(7%)and Mrs. MacDonald ($4) with the Board's approval. <br />The Board approved paying two-thirds of the bill from Haynes <br />Memorial Hospital for Janice Wing...4578.04. <br />Regular bills were approved to the amount of $1707.50, and <br />the Polio Program Payroll, $350.43, for clinics on September 22, Bilis <br />October 6 and 15, November 15 and 17. <br />Mr. Francis M. Taylor, 16 Eldred Street, Lexington, has <br />asked for help in securing admittance to the Middlesex County <br />Sanatorium, as a tubercular patient. His legal settlement is <br />in Boston, Suffolk County, and this requires that he go to the <br />Mattapan Hospital. Mr. Taylor's problem is that even though <br />his hospital insurance would cover his fees at the Sanatorium <br />Dr. Dawson of Middlesex County Sanatorium says he is not allowed <br />by law to admit patients with outside settlements. Mr. Lurvey <br />is to talle the matter up further with the proper authorities. <br />Mr. McQuillan asked if December 14 would be agreeable for <br />the December meeting as he expects to be out of town on the <br />regular date. The Board agreed. <br />Bill <br />Mr. Kraynick, the Whitman & Howard engineer taking Mr. <br />Capone's place, was introduced to the Board members. Mr. Lurvey <br />says he does a fine job and is a great help to him on the engi- <br />neering problems of tests and sewage disposal installations. <br />Mr. Lurvey is to ask the Public Works Department to bring <br />the map in the Selectmen's Room up to date on sewer installa- <br />tions. <br />nstalla- <br />tions. <br />Mr. Lurvey suggested writing to Whitman &Howard to remind <br />them that bills for problem lots should be sent to us for pay- <br />ment.
