257
BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
October 21, 1955
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Offices, on Friday, October
21, 1955 at 3 P.M. Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove,
Mr. Cole, and Mr. Lurvey were present.
Regular bills to the amount of $345.73 were discussed
and approved. The report of the Visiting Nurse Association Bilis
for the month of September was read.
Mr. Sweeney, who is trying to build at 72 Cary Avenue,
met with the Board at 3.30 P.M. to discuss the problem of
a workable sewage system for his lot. The plan worked out
by Mr. Nylander, Mr. Sweeney's engineer, could not be ap-
proved by Mr. Lurvey and the Board. It was decided to ask
Mr. Lucas, Whitman & Howard engineer, to investigate and to
try to design a plan that will work. Mr. Sweeney agreed
to abide by this decision and to follow such a plan.
Mr. Lucas will be asked to submit a workable plan and a
signed affidavit.
72 Cary
Avenue
The Budget for 1956 is due on November 15, so a great Budget
part of the meeting was spent in determining the appropri-
ation needed for next year.
Mr. Lurvey's Automobile Allowance was increased
from $500 to $800 because of the increased demands
on him.
The amount for Postage and Office Supplies was not
enough this year, so it was increased from $200 to
$225.
The Sundry account was left at $50 as we are running
about right with that.
Medical Attendance was increased to $180 from $125
but is to include Inoculations. As the Salk Vaccine
Inoculation situation is not settled for next year,
we shall have to ask for the money when we know how
many children are to be inoculated and when. One
plan is to inoculate all children from 5 years up
to 15 years of age.
The account for Hospitals was cut from 4900 to 9700
as we have not had a demand for this of late.
The budget for the Middlesex Sanatorium and for the
Visiting Nurse Association will remain the same as
that seems to be about right.
Burial of Animals is running a little ahead of usual
so the amount should be increased from $45 to $50.
Laboratory Expenses will be more next year because
