256 <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />September 16, 1955 <br />A regular meeting of the Rard of Health was held in <br />the Selectmen's Room, Town Offices, on Friday, Septembers <br />16 at 3 P.M. Present were Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove, <br />and Mr. Lurvey. <br />Reports of the Lexington Visiting Nurse Association and <br />Reports the Middlesex County Sanatorium were read and approved. One new <br />patient was admitted to the Sanatorium, Mildred Farnham, on <br />August 10. There are now 5 patients in the hospital. <br />Bills Bills from the L.V.N.A. and the Middlesex Sanatorium, <br />Theatre Pharmacy for polio inoculation supplies, Martin's <br />for postage, Central scientific Co., for autoclave check, <br />dog burial, and expenses for Mr. Lurvey at the Annual Con- <br />vention of Sanatarians were approved to the amount 01 1068.61. <br />Polio Seventeen cases of polio have been recorded since July 1. <br />A second inoculation will be given in the schools the latter <br />part of October. <br />Permits Three permits were discussed and approved: William <br />Cowles, 147 Spring St., 2 cows, 4 hens, 17 sheep; Arthur <br />Hinds, Pine Hill lurkey Farm, 10,000 turkeys (had 1955 per- <br />mit for 5,000); William Maloney, Lexington Nurseries, 4 <br />horses or ponies, 10 cows, 30 sheep, 25 poultry (no swine). <br />Mr. Brucchi's application for a permit to keep 3 cows or <br />steers was reconsidered and approved with the restriction <br />that the steers must be kept in the barn at all times or <br />permit will be revoked. A letter is to be sent by Mr. Lurvey <br />to that effect. Mr. Lurvey will see Mr. Maloney concerning <br />noise and restraint of animals. <br />Subdivisions The Board had no objection to the plan of Diane Estates <br />Subdivision and a letter is to be sent to the Planning Board <br />by Mr. Lurvey. <br />On the Wingate Road sewerage question, the Board decided <br />to discuss the problem with the Selectmen. No more cesspools <br />or septic tanks are to be approved. Builders must wait until <br />Town has money to extend sewer. <br />Mr. Lurvey is checking food establishments, bakeries, <br />restaurants, stores, etc. The Board discussed some of the <br />uncooperative cases and decided people should be asked to <br />clean up or be closed in ten days. It was voted to send a <br />letter stating this to Mr. Currier, Countryside Inc. <br />Car Allowance Mr. Lurve y's car allowance was discussed. Budget is not <br />enough to take care of work. The Board will take question <br />up at meeting with Board of Selectmen on September 26 at <br />8 P.M. the answer is either increased budget or a town car. <br />The next meeting of the Board will be on October 91. <br />This meeting adjourned at 5.
