BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
April 15, 1955
The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held on
Friday, April 15, 1955 at 3 P.M. in the Selectments Room,
Town Office Building. Mr. McQuillan, Chairman, and Dr.
Cosgrove were present, also Mr. Lurvey, Health Sanitarian,
and the Clerk.
Mrs. Anita MacDonald was interviewed by the Board for
the position as Clerk at a salary of $38.00 per week, and
will start her duties on April 25, 1955.
A letter was received from Mr. McConchie enclosing a
bill from Whitman & Howard in the amount of $420.00 for a
survey and tests to correct the serious sewage condition MdConchie=
at Longfellow and Hawthorne Roads. The members of the
Board feel that this expense should be borne by Mr. McConchie,
as this was the opinion of the Board at a meeting in Decem-
ber 17, 1954, when this situation arose. Mr. McQuillan
suggested that a letter be sent to Mr. McConchie, returning
the bill to him, and explaining that the Board felt that
this was his obligation.
Mr. Jerry Cataldo appeared before the Board to request
permission from the Board to fill in the lowlands on property
he owns on Bow Street. It was his intention to have the
Town of Aklington dump in this area. They would have equip-
ment there to dig trenches for the fill, and then cover over,
and eventually raise the land to a higher level. As it is,
now, they cannot plant as the brook which runs through over-
flows onto this land. This rubbish would consist of house
rubbish and street cleanings.
Mr. McQuillan stated that this was the first time a
situation such as this had come up, and he would rather
have the Board of Selectmen be advised of this, and made
an appointment for Mr. Cataldo to appear before the Board
of Selectmen on Monday, April 25, and outline this plan to
them.
249
Clerk
Cataldo.
A letter was received from Father John Kineen asking Father
permission to have the same treatment for land he owns on Vine Kineen
Street, Lexington. Both of these letters were sent to the
Board of Selectmen requesting their advice.
Mr. McConchie had an appointment with the Board regarding
building on lot on Hawthorne & Longfellow Roads, but didnot
keep his appointment.
A letter was sent to Mr. Monsignore, with copy to Mr. Monsignor4
Davis, by Mr. McQuillan advising them that the Board did not
deem it advisable to renew the slaughter house license which
expired on April 30, 1955.
A complaint was received by the Department regarding
damage to shrubbery done by goats owned by Dr. McCrossen
MCCrossen
