HomeMy WebLinkAbout1955-01-21k 244 M cCon chie Sun 'Valley BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING January 21, 1955 The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Htday, January 21, 1955, at 3 P.M. in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Chairman R. L. McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove and Mr.Cole were present. Mr. Mark Lurvey, Health Sanitarian, and the clerk were also present. Mr. MoGonchie met with the Board to discuss the new plan and recommendations submitted by Whitman & Howard to take care of the situation existing on Hawthc n and Longfellow Roads. Mr. Lurvey had previously gone over these plans -with Mr. Burns, our Town Engineer, and he felt that some modification could be made. Mr. McQuillan suggested that Mr. Lurvey, Mr. Cole and Mr. Burns meet with Mr. McConchie and discuss this plan and see' if it is possible to save Mr. McConchie a little expense. This, of course, to be subject to the approval of Whitman & Howard. A letter was received from the Planning Board stating that the DeVries Construction Company have filed an application for the definite approval of Section 3 of the Sun Valley subdivision. As this subdivision is to be sewered, the members of the Board had no objection to passing on this subdivision, and the Chair- man requested that the Planning Board be so notified. The Board approved the payment of a bill to the Symmes Arl- Premature ington Hospital in the amount of $209.25 for the care of pre- Baby mature baby girl born to Mrs. Mary Palumbo, 42 Cliffe Avenue, Palumbo Lexington, Mass. This case is a Boston settlement, and the Board of Health of Lexington will be reimbursed by the Boston Board of Health for this bill of x'209.25. LVN* The report from the L.V.N.A. for the month of December was read and noted. Bills Board of Health bills paid in December and to date in Jan- uary have been noted and approved by the Board. A suggestion was made by the Chairman, and approved by the Inspec- members of the Board, that the Health Sanitarian inspect res - tions taurants one month, milk establishments the next month, and food stores the following month, thus each group will be in - inspected once every three months. The Health Sanitarian's report on his inspection of Cumming' Dairy in Arlington was noted by the Board. Mr. Lurvey would like to check the producers from whom Cummings get their snply of milk, and see what can be done to improve conditions. The Board agreed that Mr. Lurvey should do this. The following recommendation was made by the Health Sani- Leaching tarian regarding special leaching beds, and this suggestion Bed8 was approved by the members of the Board. 'that before a permit is granted on any lot where a typical or special leach- ing bed is to be installed, it shall be the responsibility of the owner to hire an engineer approved by this Department to see that the proper grades are set and the special bed is correctly installed. .Cummings Da it y C^ 1 1 1 245 The Board of Health also approved the suggestion made by the Health Sanitarian that the fee for cesspool and septic Permit tank permits be raised from 50 cents to $5.00. This sugges- Fees tion has been adopted by the Board subject to the approval of the Board of Selectmen. Also this adoption to be run in the local newspaper. Applications for permission to collect rubbish received from John Brucchi, Frederick Miller, and Forsythe & Mabey Rubbish have been approved by the Board subject to an inspection to Permits be made by the Health Sanitarian as to their equipment.
