Chairman McQuillan, Dr. Cosgrove and Mr. Cole were present. Mr. Lurvey, Health sanitarian, and the Clerk were also present. Mr. Lucas of Whitman & Howard appeared before the Board at 3 P.M. Mr. McQuillan took up with him the itemised account of their latest bill which seemed a little high. He explained that the man they sent out to assist us was paid $40.00 per day, which is his salary doubled, plus expenses. Also when he (Mr. Lucas) is called in on consultation on some particular condition, there is also an additional fee. Mr. McQuillan and Mr. Lurvey both asked if it would -not be possible to have a bill rendered for each month for these engi- neering fees. Mr. Lucas stated that he had looked -over the situation on Longfellow Road, and made recommendations to Mr. McConchie on' McConchie how to take care of the situation. Mr. McConchie asked Mr. Lucas to come out and wee what he had done. He had lai-d a 10' pipe through the swamp and covered it with stone. He has a little pitch &here but it isn't enough, it's too flat for safety. So Mr. Lucas told him to dig up the outlet to his various drains and he would check and see what could be done: Mr. Lucas said he was going to make a survey and tests again, and then work out a plan for Mr. McConchie. It won't be entirely satisfactory but should work properly for a few years, and he would be able to make a conditional O.K. Mr. McQuillan and the members of the Board feel that this expense of a new survey, tests, etc., -should be paid by Mr. McConchie, as he did not proceed according to recommendations made at the time this area was devel5ped, and he is now Ming helped to remedy this mistake. The members of the Board agreed to go along with Mr. Lucas, and he will advise the Board if Mr. McConchie is doing as ad- vised, also send us a letter of the recommendations made to Mrs. McConchie to make.this situation work out satisfactorily, after the survey is made. Mr. Lucas also stated that he had received a call from Mr. Seabury to make percolation tests on land on the other side of Rte. 128, near Wood Street, and wished approval from the Board. Mr. McQuillan said he thought Mr. Seabury had a right to have these recommendations as an individual. Mr. Lucas said he could make a separate report for the B oard, and if this development went through, the Board wouldn't have to have the same percolation tests made over again. Mr. Lucas retired at 3.45 P.M. 243 Mr. John Pewtherer of Ye Towne Diner appeared before the Ye Board regarding certain requirements to be met before a common Towne victuallers license could be issued for 1955. Mr. Lurvey said Diner there were several items still to be corrected that were men- tioned in his letter to Mr. Pewtherer. Mr. Pewtherer agreed to have these items cleaned up, and another inspection will be made before the end of the year. Mr. and Mrs. H. Irving Currier of Countryside, Inc. appeared before the Board relative to their eating establishment and re- quirements that have to be met before a 1955 issue of license will be made. Mr. Currier stated that he intends to build a Currier block of new stores, and has already been before the Board of Appeals. If this permit from the Board of Apneals is granted him, he will discontinue this eating place and tear the buil- ding down. He does not want to spend any money on fixing the place up at this time. Mr. Lurvey mentioned the different items that need immediate attention, that were listed in a letter sent to Mr. Currier. Mr. Currier stated that he had put in a new tile floor at a cost of $50.00. Mr. McQuillan informed him that the Board would discuss this with Mr. Lurvey and see what could be done. Mr. and Mrs. Currier retired at 4.40 P.I. Mr. McQuillan suggested that Mr. Lurvey make another in- spection, and if the place had not been cleaned up, the Board would definitely not recommend a renewal of his license. Another letter is to be sent to Mr. Currier advising him of these items that need attention, and also the decision of the Board. Letter from Bedford Dairy was read and noted.
