168 <br />Tool houses <br />in <br />Sunnyfield <br />area <br />Community <br />Services <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MRH'TING <br />September 5, 1952 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, on Fri- <br />day, September 5, 1952, at 3:00 P. M. Chairman McQuil- <br />lan, Mr. Jackson, the Health Sanitarian, and the Agent <br />were present. <br />Letter was reQeived from Sunnyfield Associates <br />(W. P. Johnston, Secretary, 10 Calvin Street) stat- <br />ing that during the war much of the land in the <br />Sunnyfield area was used for victory gardens and <br />permits were granted for the construction of tool <br />houses. Many of the owners of these tool houses, <br />presumably without obtaining permits, erected out- <br />houses on their land. The Associates requested the <br />Board of Health to instruct the owners of the out- <br />houses to eliminate them if they do not comply to the <br />laws of the Town. <br />Mr. Jackson was instructed to advise the group <br />that the Board of Health has no jurisdiction insofar <br />as the removal of the tool houses is concerned. <br />Further consideration was given to letter dated <br />June 24, 1952, received from Mr. George P. Morey, <br />President of the Community Services of Lexington, in <br />regard to the Board of Health becoming affiliated with <br />this organization. <br />In view of an opinion received by the Board of <br />Selectmen from Mr. Stevens, Town Counsel, the Board <br />of Health is not to become affiliated with the Com- <br />munity Services of Lexington but will assist at any <br />time without actually becoming a member of the group. <br />Letter was received from the Department of•Pub- <br />lic Health, Diagnostic Laboratory, advising that a <br />certificate of approval has been issued for the Lex- <br />ington Board of Health laboratory. <br />Letter was received from the State Department <br />of Public Healthin regard to the suitability of the <br />soil for sewage disposal by local means at the so- <br />called Minute Man Highland subdivision. <br />The Chairman discussed the communication with <br />Dr. Cosgrove by telephone and in view of the report, <br />the Board of Health is in favor of approving the <br />twenty house lots, included in Section I with a <br />1 <br />
