BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
March 21, 1952.
A regular meeting of the Board of Health was held
in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building on Fri-
day, March 21, 1952 at 3:00 P.M. Chairman'Cosgrove,
Messrs. Russell -and McQuillan were present. Mr. Jack-
son, Sanitarian, and the Agent were also present.
Appointments for -the ensuing year were considered
and -upon motion of Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. McQuil-
lan, it was voted to make the -following appointments
for terms expiring March 31, 1953:

Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr.
Russell, it -was voted to include in the permanent
records of the Board, an expression of thanks to -the
Sanitarian and Agent for the performance of their
duties during the past year.
Notice was received from the -State Department of
Agriculture with regard to the nomination of an In-
Insp. of spector of Animals.
Animals Upon motion of Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr.
McQuillan, it was voted to nominate Dr. John J. Murphy,
2218 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge for re -appoint-
ment for a term expiring March 31, 1953.
Notice was received from the -State Department of
Public Health with regard to the nomination of a
Slaughter Inspector.
Slaughter Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr.
Insp. Russell, it was voted to nominate Richard F. Jackson
for re -appointment as Slaughter Inspector for a term
expiring March 31, 1953.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted
to renew the following licenses and permits:

Application for Rubbish Collection Permits were
received from Edison R. Mabey, Emidio Paoene and
Sweeney Motor Trucking Company.
Mr. Jackson submitted a list of conditions for
Rubbish Disposal Permits which were approved by the
Board as follows:
1. All rubbish trucks shall be covered at all times
except when actu4lly picking up rubbish.
2. Trucks should be reasonably clean, well painted
and tight bodied.
3. In order to prevent scavenging, waste receptacles
must be picked up from cellar, sideyard or back-
yard.
Waste material is to be disposed of only at the
Lexington Town Dump. No material from other
towns is to be dumped there.
5. Trucks are to be properly marked with the name
of the owner.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted
to grant the following Rubbish Collection Permits:

The Clerk was instructed to send each of the
above a copy of the conditions upon which the per-
mits are granted.
The Chairman read a letter from the State De-
partment of Public Health calling the Board's atten-
tion to the provisions of Chapter 13h of the Acts of
1952, "An Act Requiring the Approval of the Board of
Health Before a Planning Board May Approve a Plat".
Mr. Jackson was requested to discuss this sub-
ject with the Chairman of the Planning Board and if
at any time there is any question in his mind about
approval, he is to contact the State for advice and
assistance.

Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted
to abate the following bills:

(Patient, Mrs. Farnham, subsidy disallowed as
sputum negative.)
Application for financial assistance was re-
ceived from Mrs. Alfred A. Nutt, h5 Ridge Road, Lex-
ington, in payment of a 1641.21 hospital bill for
board and care of Shirley Jean Nutt, age five, con-
fined to the Haynes Memorial Hospital with whooping
Nutt cough and complications.
Hosp. Upon motion of Mr. McQuillan, seconded by Mr.
Bill Russell, it was voted to approve financial assistance
in an amount of $300.
In Mr. Jackson's monthly report, he informed the
Board that samples of cream taken from Cummings had
more bacteria than the standard allows.
Inasmuch as the counts taken from samples of this
Cummings' particular milk dealer have been high for many years,
Rating the Board instructed Mr. Jackson to consult Town Counsel
for advice and correct legal procedure to prevent him
from delivering in Lexington or meet the required stan-
dard.
Mr. Jackson was instructed to inform the L.J. Foss
ice cream store that unless the establishment is
L.J. Foss brought up to an A rating, the license to manufacture
ice cream may be revoked.
The Board approved overtime pay, if necessary, in
an effort to send out the numerous letters to property
owners in the so-called Manor Section advising that the
sewers'must be connected not later than September 15,
1952.
