Dear Sir:-
Our Mr. T. J. Lewis, requests us to give you references of parties
who are using our Road Machines in your section. As this is the first
year that we have had a traveler in your section, we are not able to
furnish you a very large list, as we have never shipped but very few
Machines into that section. We however append you a list of some
places not very far from you, where we have sold Machines, but are unable
to give you the names and addresses of the present officials of
the towns. We presume however a letter addressed to the selectmen,
would reach any of them. We should be pleased to have you write to
any of the places mentioned, and find out exactly what they think of
our machine. You will bear in mind of course that the Champion
people have had the New England trade substantially without competition,
since the invention of this class of machinery. There has never
beena place where we have come in competition with them, or in fact any
other machine, where a competative trial has been held in the state of
Mass., but what the Climax has been purchased.

Blandford, Hampden Co.
Lanesboro, Berkshire Co.
Newburyport, Mass., had a competative trial here with the American
Champion. Charles Prichard was superintendant of streets.
City of Northampton, Hampshire Co. This city also has in use a Champion
and Western. F. A. Dayton was the superintendent of streets at the
time of purchase. We send you a copy of our 1894 catalogue, on page
20 of which appears a letter from Mr. Dayton, which will show you his
opinion of our machine.
Cheshire, Berkshire Co.
Halifax, Plymouth Co.
Wenham, Essex Co. Had a trial here with the American Champion. J. H.
Perkins was selectman at the time.
Athol, Worcester Co.
Adams, Berkshire Co.
Lennox. Berkshire Co.
Clarksburg, Berkshire Co.

South Middlesex Street Railway, Natick
Gloscester, Essex & Beverly Railway, Essex Falls.
We would also refer you to Jos. Mc Cormick, E. Providence, R. I.,
and J. E. Whipple, Georgiaville, R.I.
Although these places are not as near to you as we might wish,
yet we think you can get a very good idea of the relative merits of the
Climax by writing them. Mr. Lewis will name you as low prices as
can possibly be made by any manufacturers of first class goods. Our
plant for the manufacture of this kind of machinery is the newest and
most modern of any in this country, hence no one canfurnish any better
machines at a lower price than we.
