HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-01-13BOARD OF APPEALS ' January 13, 1977 The Board of Appeals held a regular meeting on Thursday, January 13, 1977 in the Town Office Building, Selectmen's Meeting Room, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Present were: George P. Wadsworth, Chairman Ruth Morey, Vice Chairman Woodruff M. Brodhead Clarence D. Turner, Associate Natalie H. Riffin, Associate Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notices having been mailed as required by statute and hearings advertised in the newspaper. Michael �. Colangelo and Josephine Colangelo - special permit to erect a free standing] sign at 12-14-16-18 Hartwell Avenue. Itek Corporation - special permit to allow for alteration of an existing pent- house at 10 Maguire Road. The proposed structure will be approximately 21' x 30' x 15' high above the existing penthouse roof line. The height above average grade will be less than the sixty-five limit allowed under Paragraph 26.56 of Zoning By -Law. It will be used to test optical systems being developed and is essential to the continuation of Itek Corporation Research and Development work. Leo C. Ba.rbarossa - special permit, pursuant to Section 25.69, to serve food to ' be eaten on the premises at 46 Massachusetts Avenue. Robert P. Duff - variance of Section 27 to maintain a tower of 100 ft. elevation for the purposes of supporting ham radio antennas on the property at 15 Oxford Street. 'This tower is presently installed on the property. They Board made the following decisions, all in open meeting. See decisions for detadls, all in Board of Appeals' files and also filed with the Town Clerk. Colan e - granted unanimously. Itek - granted unanimously. Barbaroslsa - denied. Three in favor of granting: George P. Wadsworth, Clarence D. Turner, Natalie H. Riffin. In opposition: Ruth Morey and Woodruff M. Brodhead. Duff - The Board voted unanimously to allow Mr. Duff to withdraw his petition. Mr. Duff had notified all persons previously notified of the hearing that he intended to withdraw his petition. Also, Mr. Duff wrote a letter to the Board which was posted with the Town Clerk and placed on the Town Bulletin Board. The letter requested to have petition withdrawn without prejudice. Other information: It Was noted that the Planning Board had discussed the fact that Brewsters, Inc. would be requesting a new entrance to their building at 903 Waltham St. This request would be quite different from the previous request which had been ' denied by the Board of Appeals November 18, 1976. The Planning Board would not be making a formal comment, since they agreed it was substantially different and Ch. 40A, Sec. 20 would not apply. Mr.',May (Attorney Norman T. May, representing the Veldkamp's) hag fiade January t3, 1977 (continued) ' application for a hearing in regard to 7 Bird Hill Rd., formerly 6 Rockville Avenue- .This request is the same as one scheduled for December 30, 1976. No one appe*red on behalf of the Petitioner for that hearing. The Board decided on the 30th to take no action and allow them to petition again.
