BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS
January 28, 1954
A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held in the Selectmen's
Room, Town Office Building, Lexington, on January 28, 1954. Chairman
Locke, Messrs. Ballard, Ripley, Redman and Worthen were present. The
Clerk was also present.
At 8:00 p.m. hearings were declared open on the following peti-
tions:
Robert L. Lyon - to subdivide the lot numbered 265 Bedford St.
and 9-11 No.Hancock St. into two lots.
Dianne Estates Inc. - to subdivide Lot 3, Waltham St. , into two lots.
The new lot #3 (on which a dwelling has been erected) would have a front-
age of 79.79 ft. on Waltham St. with an area of 9,850 sq.ft. more or less;
and lot #1a a frontage of 70 ft. on Waltham St. with an area of 9,380 sq.ft.
more or less.
Albert L. Hildebrand Jr. - to erect a single family dwelling on
Lot #145 Donald St.
James A. Carrig - to continue the use of the temporary Real Estate
office at the corner of Concord Ave. and Pleasant St.
James B. Catalano - to continue the operation of the retail business
of selling plants anti flowers growing on the premises at 613 Waltham St.
Mass. Inst. of Technology - to erect a stainless steel tower at
M.I.T. Field Station, 23d Wood 3t.
At the close of the hearings an Executive Session was held during
which the following decisions were reached;
Robert L. Lyon - Granted - subject to the condition that in convert-
ing the playhoise into a single family dwelling the Building By-laws of the
Town shell be met in every respect; and subject to the further condition
that the house on 265 Bedford St. shall be used only as a single family
dwelling.
Dianne Estates Inc. - Granted
Albert L. Hildebrand Jr - Granted
James A. Carrig - Granted - subject to the condition that the permit
shall expire January 17, 1955.
James B. Catalano - Granted - subject to the following conditions:
1. Automobiles shall be parked on the premises and not on the highway. 2.
That this permit shall expire January 5, 1955.
Mass. Institute of Technology - Granted - subject to the condition
that the tower shall be removed not later than February 1, 1957.
