2003 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> March 24, 2003 <br /> (See Warrant File for Warrant) <br /> The first session of the 2003 Annual Town Meeting was called to order by Moderator <br /> Margery M. Battin, at 8:00 p.m., at the National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Road. A <br /> quorum of 181 members was present. <br /> The Lexington Minutemen, accompanied by the Fife and Drum corps of Diamond <br /> Middle School, posted the colors. <br /> The invocation was offered by Reverend Judith Brain, Pilgrim Congregational Church. <br /> The Moderator honored deceased Town Meeting members Sheila Clemon-Karp, Lloyd <br /> Taylor, James Nicoloro and Francis H. McCarron for their dedicated service to the Town <br /> of Lexington. <br /> Fire Chief Peter Torode reviewed procedures for emergency exit from the auditorium. <br /> Town Clerk Donna M. Hooper read the Warrant for the Meeting until waived. The Town <br /> Clerk read the Constable's Return of the Warrant. <br /> The Moderator reviewed procedural matters and explained anticipated Article order and <br /> reports to be made to the meeting. <br /> The Moderator declared the meeting open under Article 2 and would be so during the <br /> duration of the meeting. <br /> ARTICLE 2: REPORTS OF TOWN BOARDS, OFFICERS, COMMITTEES <br /> 8:27 p.m. Arthur Katz, Committee on Cary Lecture moved: <br /> MOTION: That the report of the Committee on Cary Lectures be accepted and <br /> placed on file and the Committee discharged. MOTION UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> 8:30 p.m. Board of Selectmen Chairman Leo McSweeney moved: <br /> MOTION: That the report of the Town Manager be accepted and placed on <br /> file. <br /> Town Manager Richard J. White presented the Report of the Town Manager. MOTION <br /> UNANIMOUSLY. <br /> 8:48 p.m. Deborah Brown, Chairman, Appropriation Committee, moved: <br /> MOTION: That the report of the Appropriation Committee be accepted and <br /> placed on file. <br /> Following Ms. Brown's presentation of the report, committee member Alan Levine <br /> commented further. MOTION UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED. <br /> ARTICLE 3: APPOINTMENTS TO CARY LECTURE SERIES <br /> 9:09 p.m. Arthur Katz, Cary Lecture Series, moved: <br /> MOTION: That a committee of three be appointed by the Moderator to have <br /> the charge of the lectures under the wills of Eliza Cary Farnham and <br /> Suzanna E. Cary for the current year. MOTION UNANIMOUSLY <br /> ADOPTED. <br />
