<br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br />FUND FOR LEXINGTON BOARD <br />March 25, 2024 <br />4:02 p.m. <br />held by remote participation <br /> <br />Present: Doug Lucente, Chair; Joe Pato; Norman Cohen; Ed Grant; Rev. Claire Feingold Thoryn; Alan <br />Wrigley; Dana Bickelman, Director of Human Services; Melissa Battite, Recreation Director; Peggy Enders, <br />Friends of the Minuteman Bikeway. <br />Mr. Lucente stated the meeting is being held remotely as posted with the agenda. He announced the sad <br />news of the passing of Trustees of the Public Trust trustee David Williams. Mr. Lucente also noted that <br />Mr. Alan Fields, Fund for Lexington Board member, has tendered his resignation from the Trustees of <br />the Public Trust. In turn this trustee seat on the Fund for Lexington Board is currently vacant and is <br />hoped to be filled soon with the Select Board appointment of a new trustee to the Fund for Lexington <br />Board. <br />1) Money Available <br />State Street Account as of February 29, 2024 <br /> Ending Principal balance: $296,946.75 <br /> Ending Income balance: $30,447.18 <br /> Total Balance as of 2/29/2024 $327,393.93 <br /> <br />2023 Fund for Lexington Annual Appeal Donations <br /> <br /> Approximately $24,500 received to date, of which $5,000 was received via online donations <br /> <br />2) Human Services Report and Requests <br />Ms. Bickelman reported the following activity for the Human Services funds dispersed for the period: <br /> Fund for Lexington <br />o $1808.13 out of the Heating Assistance Program for one family (Remaining balance - <br />$1894.71) <br /> Human Services Emergency Fund (non-COVID related) $2,805.38 for rent, moving expenses, and car <br />payment assistance <br /> Gift Cards -351 Market Basked Gift cards disbursed since November 2023 to March 31, 2024 <br /> Covid-19 Financial Assistance (Takeda and FFL Contributions) <br /> Remaining Takeda Balance: $ 8,938.04 <br /> FFL Balance: $25,000 <br /> <br />3) Recreation Department Report and Requests <br />Ms. Battite, Recreation Director, provided and overview of the Recreation report for the tracking of the <br />Recreation Scholarship Fund. The recreation scholarship fund is used to assist children from lower income <br />families to be able to attend Town sponsored summer programs which they may not otherwise be able to <br />afford. The Recreation Department respectfully requested $9,000 from the Fund for Lexington to support <br />recreation scholarship awards through the 2024 season. <br /> <br />Upon a motion duly made and seconded, by roll call, the Fund for Lexington Board voted 6-0 to approve <br />$9,000 be dispersed from the Fund for Lexington to the recreation scholarship program to assist residents in <br />need for recreation programming. <br /> <br />4) Other <br /> Request for Seed Money for First Annual Bikeway Block Party <br />Ms. Peggy Enders stated the first annual Bikeway Block Party is being planned to place along the entire 10 <br />miles of the bike path and is being co-hosted in Lexington by the Friends of Lexington Bikeways and the <br />Munroe Center for the Arts. The request to the Fund for Lexington is to see if they would provide “seed <br />money” towards the cost of this first Bikeway Block Party event. <br /> <br /> <br />
