Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Hall Building 1625 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, MA Board of Health Members in Attendance: Burt Perlmutter, MD, John J. Flynn, J.D., Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, David S. Geller, M.D Health Division Attendees: Gerard F. Minutes of July 15, 2015 approved with corrections 2.) Community Health: Director Cody is currently working on a final report for the CHNA grant. TB updated from regional public nurse review to a new system of case reviews to be done by clinical staff and epidemiologists. Director Cody informed the Board on the various animal quarantine and rabies cases since the last meeting. The Flu Clinic Schedule has been completed and posted on the town website for 2015. 3.) Environmental Health Environmental Health Report was reviewed for various inspections conducted by the Health Agent. Beijing represented by Ms. Frances Cheng, Manager and Ms. Maureen Lee of Food Service Solutions discussed progress and recent inspection reports, continued for next month. The Sick Food Worker Exclusion and Restriction Plan Project was discussed. Abbie Atkins, MPH Candidate intern was not present. Director Cody gave brief summary of the tri-fold education materials to food establishments in order to avoid transmission of disease. First Baptist Church located at 1580 Massachusetts Avenue requested from the board a variance to install a rinse and wash sink and a ware washing machine. Motion was as follows "The Lexington Board of Health approves of the variance Request from the requirement of 4- 301.12 to install and maintain a Manual Ware washing Sink. Instead, First Baptist Church will be required to maintain a ware washing machine as described in FC 4- 501.110 and FC 4- 501.112 (A)(2)." Burt Perlmutter proposed the variance, Jay Flynn seconded the motion, all in favor. The Board reviewed the State Sanitary Code Case. 87 Pleasant Street and 33 Fottler Avenue were closed. Donald Rivard of Rivard's Resources informed the Board about his observations and was able to answer any questions posed by the Board of Health. See report for more details. Trevor Sherwood of Certified Pool Operators, submitted completed reports for all neighborhood pools. The bathing beach Conservation land was addressed in a motion by the Board of Health. Massachusetts Department of Health proposed standard based on regulation. Stewards would identify access points of conservation water. Director Cody proposed signage to identify risk of swimming in unchecked bacteria levels. The motion was as follows "After review of the proposed signage, the Lexington BOH approves of the following statements made in the signage: Warning! No Swimming. Swimming may cause illness and injury. The water bodies located in the Lexington conservation lands are not tested for bacteria. In addition, a Sanitary Survey has not been completed to identify actual and potential sources of microbiological or chemical contamination. The Lexington Board of Health has determined that this water body is unfit for bathing or swimming. For more information, please contact the Lexington Board of Health Division at 781- 698 -4522. This notice was posted on (date). In addition, the universal no swimming emblem is required to be posted on the sign." David Gellar proposed motion to approve, Jay Flynn seconded motion, All approved. Mosquito risk is medium, ticks are also medium activity. Both will dissipate after first frost. Over four thousand catch basins were treated. Abbie Atkins, MPH Candidate completed eight educational presentations to inform the public on bite prevention. The Board was updated on recent Emergency Preparedness activities and upcoming table exercise on September 30, 2015. Miscellaneous 5.) Old Business / New Business 6.)
