Lexington Council for the Arts <br />Meeting MINUTES <br />Attendance: <br />Present:Cristina Burwell (Chair), Diana South, Seetha Ramnath, Jean Hart, Susan Hammond, Faith Lin <br />Absent: Rebecca McGowen, Lynne Klemmer, Jessie Steigerwald, Cheryl Meadows, Leslie Masson <br />Guests: <br />Recording Secretary: Seetha Ramnath <br />Meeting start time: 7:03pm <br />1. WELCOME - Chairperson <br />2. REPORTS <br />a. Secretary's Report <br />i. Approval of previous meeting's minutes - motion by Jean to approve, Susan seconded. <br />b. Treasurer's Report <br />i. Local Revenue update - - $2000 in revenue <br />ii. Budget, and review of funds for the Granite Forest Project - A motion was made by Jean <br />to grant this program funds from LC4A, seconded by Diana. Cristina made a motion to <br />donate $1000, seconded by Seetha. All council members (present) are in favor. This is <br />intended to show a support for public art in town, with this being one of the only efforts <br />being made by residents toward this goal. There is hope that LC4A can build more funds <br />for similar support in town. <br />c. Grants Report <br />i. Upcoming Grant events - all listed on artslexington.org blog for more information <br />1. April 16 - Opal Ensemble Chamber Music Concert <br />2. April 30 - Kammerwerke Double Wind Quintet Concert <br />3. May 1 - Holocaust Workshop <br />4. May 6 - Halalisa Concert <br />5. May 7 thru June 5 - State of Clay Exhibit; Lecture May 20th by Prof. Wayne <br />Higby <br />ii. Grant Publicity - Susan has listed all the grants that we have this year by date. This <br />information was posted in the Minuteman newspaper as well as on our website <br />blog.artslexington.org <br />Grantee Reception - Last year used Arts Walk for Grantee reception so this year, will <br />continue this tradition- on May 14th from 2 -3pm is the planned reception event time. <br />Following this, at 3pm, a rock band is performing. We need LCA members to help with <br />this event (set -up, and table staffing for the hour). <br />d. Communications Report <br />i. Website - no additions /changes were identified. <br />ii. Newsletter - Cristina made a request for anyone interested in setting up a digital <br />newsletter, or recommending others who may be interested in guiding the Council. <br />e. Fundraising Report <br />i. CEL Grant Application - Results of our application are expected sometime this June. <br />ii. Fundraising Roundtable - Cristina proposed a group of individuals with significant <br />experience in fundraising to brainstorm ideas for best paths forward for raising monies for <br />the LCA. This information can then be provided to Council members for making decisions <br />in September. This plan will be fleshed out after ArtsOffroad event takes place. <br />3. OLD BUSINESS <br />a. 2016/17 Projects Planning Group - We will await the fundraising meeting to commence then handle <br />off line during the summer as appropriate. <br />b. Parade Plans - Cristina is recruiting volunteers as banner holders for the Parade. <br />c. Arts Offroad Plans - Permits for Parker meadow, Visitors center lawn received. <br />1 of 2 <br />
