HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-03-02-DAC-min LEXINGTON DESIGN ADVISORY COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting of March 2, 2011 A meeting of the Design Advisory Committee was held on March 2, 2011 at 7:30 pm in the Town Offices building room 111. A quorum of six was present. Members Present: Tim Lee (Chair), Bruce Creager, Steve Vincent, John Frey, Richard Friedson, Brigitte Steines Members Absent: Alenka Slezak, Ginna Johnson, Betsy Whitman, Richard Brown, Colin Smith, Bahig Kaldas Approvals : Minutes of the previous meeting were approved with minor corrections The meeting acted on the following items: ZBA – Wireless communication applications to modify existing facilities at four locations – 14 Morgan Street, 40 Hartwell Ave., 191 Spring Street and 1475 Mass. Ave. The DAC reviewed each application and had no issues and recommended approval of each application. Please see the attached letter sent to the ZBA. The following documents/exhibits were presented and reviewed at the meeting: 1.Application for Special Permit by New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC, d/b/a/ AT&T Mobility, Inc. – Modification of the facility located at 191 Spring Street Lexington, MA 02421 2.Application for Special Permit by New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC, d/b/a/ AT&T Mobility, Inc. – Modification of the facility located at 14 Morgan Street Lexington, MA 02421 3.Application for Special Permit by New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC, d/b/a/ AT&T Mobility, Inc. – Modification of the facility located at 40 Hartwell Ave. Lexington, MA 02421 4.Application for Special Permit by New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC, d/b/a/ AT&T Mobility, Inc. – Modification of the facility located at 1475 Mass. Ave. Lexington, MA 02421 Planning Board - 94 Hartwell Ave., Sign Application The DAC reviewed the proposed sign application at 94 Hartwell Ave. and had the following comments. 1. After reviewing the three sign versions for the business name sign the DAC recommend the 36” x 120” version (image attached). The DAC find the other two versions too large for the location. 2. The DAC recommends approval of the smaller logo sign over the door as proposed. 3.The DAC does not typically recommend internally illuminated signs including halo type lighting and prefer external illumination of signs. However in this specific case the DAC found the proposed halo type lighting an appropriate application and acceptable. 4.The DAC would like the applicant to submit a final detailed technical drawing indicating the dimensions of the signs and the signs locations, all sign materials and components and sign colors to the Town for final approval prior to installation. The Design Advisory Committee recommends this project be approved pending compliance with the recommendations noted above. Please see the attached letter sent to the ZBA.
