WARRANT FOR STATE ELECTION <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex, ss . <br /> To either of the Constables of the Town on Lexington, in said County, <br /> Greeting : <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify <br /> and warn the inhabitants of said Town who are qualified to vote in <br /> Elections to meet in their respective voting places in said Town, <br /> PRECINCT ONE; ADAMS SCHOOL; PRECINCT TWO, THREE AND FOUR, CARY <br /> MEMORIAL BUILDING, on TUESDAY, the 2nd day of November, A.D. 1948, at <br /> 7,1.00- o' clock A.M. to cast their ballots for the following officers : <br /> Presidential Electors; Governor; Lieutenant Governor; <br /> Secretary; Treasurer; Auditor; Attorney General; Senator <br /> in Congress; Representative in Congress; Councillor; <br /> Senator; Two Representatives in General Court; Register <br /> of Probate and Insolvency; Two County Commissioners; <br /> County Treasurer. <br /> VACANCIES <br /> One Sheriff <br /> And to take action on the following questions : <br /> QUESTION NO. 1 <br /> Do you approve of the adoption of an amendment to the constitution <br /> summarized below which was approved by the General Court in a joint <br /> session of the two branches held June 28, 1945, received 227 votes in <br /> the affirmative and 0 in the negative, and in a joint session of the <br /> two branches held June 9, 1947, received 232 votes in the affirmativ€ <br /> and 8 in the negative? <br /> a ESI <br /> SUMMARY NO <br /> This proposed amendment to the Constitution adds to the declaration <br /> of the rights of the inhabitants, as now set forth in the Constitution, <br /> the following : "The right of free speech shall not be abridged:" <br /> QUESTION NO. 2 <br /> Do you approve of the adoption of an amendment to the constitution <br /> summarized below Which was approved by the General Court in a joint <br /> session of the two branches held June 6, 1946, received 220 votes in <br /> the affirmative and 28 in the negative, and in a joint session <br /> of the two branches held June 9, 1947, received 228 votes in FEST <br /> the affirmative and 5 in the negative? II NO <br /> SUMMARY <br /> This proposed amendment to the Constitution provides that the use <br /> of revenue from fees, duties, excises or license taxes relating to the <br /> registration, operation or use of- vehicles on public highways or to fuels <br /> used for propelling such vehicles, except revenue from any excise tax <br /> imposed for the privilege of registering such vehicles in lieu of local <br /> property taxes, shall be for highway purposes only. <br />
