WARRANT FOR STATE ELECTION <br /> Commonwealth of Massachusetts Middlesex, ss . <br /> To either of the Constables of the Town of Lexington, in said County, <br /> Greeting: <br /> In the name of the Commonwealth you are hereby required to notify and <br /> warn the inhabitants of said Town who are qualified to vote in elections to <br /> meet in their respective voting places in said Town , <br /> PRECINCT ONE, HARRINGTON SCHOOL; PRECINCT TWO, ADAMS SCHOOL; PRECINCT <br /> THREE, CARY MEMORIAL BUILDING; PRECINCT FOUR, SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL; PRECINCT <br /> FIVE, CENTRAL FIRE STATION; PRECINCT SIX, MARIA HASTINGS SCHOOL. <br /> PARTIAL BALLOT VOTING FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS ONLY WILL BE HELD IN <br /> THE TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE <br /> TUESDAY, THE THIRD DAY OF NOVEMRFR, 1964 <br /> at 7:00 o' clock A.M. , to cast their ballots for the following officers : <br /> Presidential Electors; Senator in Congress ; Governor; Lieutenant <br /> Governor; Attorney General; Secretary; Treasurer; Auditor; Repre- <br /> sentative in Congress ; Councillor; Senator; One Representative in <br /> General Court; Clerk of Courts; Register of Deeds; Two County <br /> Commissioners.. <br /> And to take action on the following questions : <br /> QUESTION NO . 1 <br /> PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION <br /> Do you approve of the adoption of an amendment to the <br /> constitution summarized below which was approved by the General <br /> Court in a joint session of the two branches held March 29, 1961, <br /> received 219 votes in the affirmative and 26 in the negative, and <br /> in a joint session of the two branches held May 8, 1963, received <br /> 211 votes in the affirmative and 14 in the negative? <br /> YES <br /> SUMMARY NO <br /> The proposed amendment provides that the terms of office <br /> of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the Common- <br /> wealth, Treasurer and Receiver General, Attorney General and <br /> Auditor shall be four years. Executive Councillors, Senators <br /> and Representatives shall continue to serve for two years. The <br /> four-year term for constitutional officers would become effective <br /> at the time of the November election in the year 1966. <br /> QUESTION NO. 2 <br /> PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION <br /> Do you approve of the adoption of an amendment to the <br /> constitution summarized below which was approved by the General <br /> Court in a ,joint session of the two branches held July 18, 1962, <br /> received 238 votes in the affirmative and 1 in the negative , <br /> and in a joint session of the two branches held May 8, 1963, YES <br /> received 246 votes in the affirmative and 2 in the negative? NO <br />
