TOWN WARRANT

<br />To the Constable of the Town of Lexington, in said County,
<br />Greeting:
<br />In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are directed to notify the inhabitants of
<br />the Town of Lexington, qualified to vote in elections and in Town affairs, to meet in the Cary Memorial
<br />Building, in said Lexington, on Thursday the first day of June, A. D. 1950, at 8 o'clock P.M., then and
<br />there to act on the following articles:
<br />ARTICLE 1. To receive the reports of any Board of
<br />Town Officers or of any Committee of the Town and to
<br />appoint other committees.
<br />ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to appro-
<br />priate an additional sum of money for Clerk and Treas-
<br />urer's Department—Expenses, for the balance of the year
<br />1950, and provide for payment therefor by direct appro-
<br />priation, by transfer from available funds, by transfer
<br />from the Parking Meter Account, or by any combination
<br />of these methods, or act in any other manner in relation
<br />thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will vote to appro-
<br />priate a sum of money for additions, replacements, re-
<br />pairs and alterations to the heating system in the Town
<br />Offices and Cary Memorial Building, including installation
<br />of heating controls and of oil burning equipment, and pro-
<br />vide for payment therefor by direct appropriation, by
<br />transfer from available funds, or by the issue of notes or
<br />bonds of the Town, or by any combination of these methods,
<br />or act in any other manner in relation thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote a supple-
<br />mentary appropriation in addition to the sum of $8,500
<br />appropriated under Article 29 of the Warrant for the 1950
<br />Annual Town Meeting, the entire amount to be used for
<br />the erection of toilet facilities at the Center Playground,
<br />and to provide for payment therefor by direct appropria-
<br />tion, by transfer from available funds, or by any combi-
<br />nation of these methods, or act in any other manner in
<br />relation thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to authorize
<br />the Selectmen to accept on behalf of the Town a deed con-
<br />veying to the Town in fee a certain parcel of land in which
<br />the Town now has a sewer easement, containing about
<br />1020 square feet and being shown as Lot 3B on a "Plan
<br />Showing Subdivision of Lots 1, 2, 3 and 7, Massachusetts
<br />Avenue Terrace Development and Proposed Drain Ease-
<br />ment, Lexington, Mass., Oct. 4, 1949, William M. Burns,
<br />Town Engineer", a copy of which is on file in the office
<br />of the Town Engineer, upon such terms and conditions as
<br />the Selectmen may determine, or act in any other manner
<br />in relation thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote to authorize
<br />the Selectmen to accept on behalf of the Town a grant or
<br />grants of land adjoining Oak Street between Massachu-
<br />setts Avenue and Ellis Street, or of rights therein, for all
<br />purposes of a Town way so as to provide a width of forty
<br />(40,) feet for Oak Street, as shown on a plan entitled
<br />"Plan of Proposed Widening of Oak Street, Lexington,
<br />Mass., April 10, 1950, William M. Burns, Town Engineer",
<br />a copy of which is on file in the office of the Town Engineer,
<br />or act in any other manner in relation thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to authorize
<br />the School Committee to proceed with the construction
<br />of an addition to the Parker School in accordance with
<br />plans submitted and recommended by them, or as such
<br />plans may be changed by them, and with the original
<br />equipping and furnishing of such addition, and to let
<br />contracts, and provide for payment therefor by the issue
<br />of bonds or notes of the Town, by direct appropriation,
<br />by transfer from available funds, or by any combination
<br />of these methods, or act in any other manner in relation
<br />thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 8. To see if the Town will vote to authorize
<br />the School Committee to proceed with remodeling, recon-
<br />structing or making extraordinary repairs to the Parker
<br />School, Munroe School, Adams School and Junior High
<br />School in accordance with plans submitted and recommend-
<br />ed by them, or as such plans may be changed by them,
<br />and to let contracts, and provide for payment therefor by
<br />the issue of bonds or notes of the Town, by direct appro-
<br />priation, by transfer from available funds, or by any com-
<br />bination of these methods, or act in any other manner in
<br />relation thereto.
<br />ARTICLE 9. To see if the Town will vote to authorize
<br />the Selectmen, on behalf of the Town, to purchase or take
<br />by eminent domain or otherwise acquire for school pur-
<br />poses, a certain parcel of land of substantially triangular
<br />shape situated north of and adjoining the Parker School,
<br />said land containing approximately 2,644 square feet and
<br />being shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Proposed Addi-
<br />tional Land for Parker School, Lexington, Mass., May,
<br />1950, William M. Burns, Town Engineer", a copy of which
<br />is on file in the office of the Town Engineer, and provide
<br />for payment therefor by direct appropriation or by a
<br />transfer from available funds, or act in any other manner
<br />in relation thereto.
