Accordingly,this sub-committee will
incorporate the Policy Sub-Committee and make recommendation to the whole
committee on
• Snow removal policies and publicity
• Standards for construction and replacement—i.e. as Sidewalks are replaced and
rebuilt, what is the most economical way to deliver pavement that affords
aesthetics acceptable to the community
• Maintenance-proposal for funding and development of a master plan that is
consistent with construction standards
To recommend and promote these policies the Sub-committee will
• Prepare material for the Sidewalk website, participate in public meetings and
• Conduct interviews with DPW personnel in neighboring communities
Educate public and promote current programs and policies
Francine's draft is circulating for comment. This will be used as an article for the
Minuteman, the website and the basis of pubic discussion to explain current policies of
snow removal and the limitations stemming from limited resources. We also recommend
that a note about snow removal practices be put in the fall tax bill.
Survey—Marianne has a comprehensive draft of questions about snow removal. Lisa and
Marianne will expand this to include broader issues i.e. construction materials, duties and
responsibilities, funds expended(not budgeted), number of personnel, decision makers
for new construction. Any information learned from the survey will support the DPW
Dept.'s accredita.tian effort.
Assignments
Jeanne-invite a landscape architect to join the Sub-committee
- get a list of Towns to include in survey
