FAT,T, Iv-METING OF TETE ASSOCTATTON OF TOWN FINANCE COMMITTF,E'S <br /> October 25, 1945 <br /> • <br /> The Fall meeting of the Association of Town Finance <br /> ComTittees was held at the Hotel Sheraton, Bay- State Road, <br /> Boston, Vassachusetts, on Thursday, October 25, 1945. Dinner <br /> was served at 6 :00 P.M. <br /> The members present were Fred C. Newha 11 , Jasper <br /> Lane, Hi chael Hopkins and Raymond L. ?`bite. <br /> Danforth Comi.ns was the first speaker of the <br /> evening. 1.To discussed Charts I and II, showing Departmental <br /> Maintenance Fxnendi tures in Percentages, in different Towns. <br /> These Charts are made up in three roues - Group I - <br /> Populat° on 10,000 or Over - Group II' - Populate on 3,001 to <br /> 10,000, and Group III - Population 3,000 or Below. <br /> Mr. Comins stated that at the present time re <br /> have 89 Towns whose Finance Committees are members of the <br /> Asso on. <br /> The next speaker was Com issioner Henry Long who <br /> spoke In ,=,enera1 on different items of interest to the <br /> Cor-mittee . One ; tem in particular was that the Public Welfare <br /> Budgets this -rear will be at least 25a' greater than 1944 due <br /> to the l_iberali zation of Old Ac,e Assistance. <br /> The next speaker was George SearleS of the Division <br /> of Accounts. ' He spoke about the new bills passed by the <br /> General Court, effective January 1, 1946. There are at least <br /> 20 different bills that he called our attention to.
